he had a slightly off night, he's a world class ref. give him a break.

It wasnt even that off a night. The duduction was a little uneccesary but thats it.

You clinch, he's supposed to sepperate the fighters, theres no rule saying u gotta let them hug for 3 seconds before u step in, he was just trying to get things going along

Cortez has always been a ref who likes to be involved. He even has a catchphrase! That was the problem. The best fights are the ones where the ref isn't mentioned, not the ones where th ref was an influence.

Kenny should have been the ref. Jay Nady just for the hell of it.

He was doing lots of ****** things like separating the fighters when there was no clinching and he was warning Hatton for holding Floyd's head down yet he was seemingly oblivious to the fact that Mayweather was charging into the headlock like a bull essentially forcing Hatton to latch on to him.

The ref had nothing to do with the outcome folks.

KBall, you are an objective poster. I've never seen a ref tell a boxer that he's supposed to back out when the opponent bends over FORWARD. I've never seen that before. I guess that makes the uppercut an illegal punch when you're fighting Floyd. Cortez rode Hatton until he was wet. Then he let Floyd take over. A magnificent one-two punch.

That may be true but it doesn't matter. I will be keeping a close eye on Cortez from now on and I just hope he doesn't ruin a fight that is closer than the one we saw last week.

I'm not sure if you noticed (and you probably wouldn't admit it anyways), but Floyd's elbow seemed to go up after Hatton's arm somehow ended up around his neck. If your opponent is putting one arm around your neck and hitting you with the other (which is illegal) I wouldn't think his fans would be such bitches about the forearm/elbow pushing him away. Both fighters fought a "rugged" style, both were warned and only one committed a blatant, malicious foul.
