I've been gone for a week. Has the Calzaghe v. Hopkins fight been made? I am saying this because after last weeks' Floyd/Hatton fight, I would figure that Calzaghe may be even more determined to avoid fighting in the U.S., if you know what I mean.

Last I heard they had agreed on a 50/50 split, but a date has not been set, yet.

I can tell you that The Bringer is not saying Calzaghe sucks, but I do understand what he is saying (at least I think so). He is saying that HBO is trying to hype him way more than he deserves to be (at least for his performances on HBO). They seriously made the commentary for the Kessler bout sound more one-sided than Showtime did for the Lacy bout (and Showtime actually just had to report what was going on for their **** to sound one-sided).

I thought he put on one hell of a show against Kessler, but HBO took it too far.

It also is not out of the question that Hopkins beats him, because Joe has never faced anyone who fights like B-Hop (in fact, no one in the sport has unless they have faced Bernard Hopkins).

He is one of a kind, and Joe is going to have to come up with a way to get Bernard out of control of the ring like Bernard has been in for almost all of his fights.

I personally think he can and will do it, but it will be a huge wake up call to everyone who thinks Calzaghe is god's gift to the sport.

I know for a fact you watch a fighter like Zag, thinking he's from wales, and you think he aint ****.

Wales isn't a fighting country. And what he does in the ring looks almost primitive. His approach to the sport looks primitive.

But Zag's approach to timing is second to none. The way he judges the distance between him and his opponent is legandary. He is not just a fighter, but an ATHLETE.

Which is why he is able to get away with throwing 'slapping' hooks. His intight hooks and his brawling is what makes him the fighter that he is.
