Miguel Cotto: "Mayweather Always Makes Excuses"

Cotto doesn't need to beg PBF to fight him. They called him out, PBF decided to take a rest, ball is in his court, that's the end of it. There are other big fighters out there that are willing to fight and would make good fights for the fans, go after them, **** Floyd.Comment

VERY good post homie and I respect you too as a poster 100%..
I respect your opinion and cannot pull out no flaws in it, you have great reason to believe what you believe, I just think Cotto will land the cleaner shots, the Floyd who fought Ricky didn't kick it up until the later rounds because of the pressure, the first 6 rounds were even and this was against someone who couldn't control his aggression, against Cotto that wont happen, see Cotto has an immense ability to counter punch and not waist punches, when he throws he lands in bunches of 2 and 3 switching from body to face, he does a lot of technical things that will be hard for Floyd to adapt to..
I'll put it to you like this, Cotto is weak to 2 punches which are the straight right hand and the uppercut however he is still very dangerous even when hurt, dude comes back strong, so I see it like this, Floyd can't really do nothing to Cotto besides outsmart him to win, the speed wont help because Cotto can overcome that, the power wont help because he's been hit by stronger men and won, the only thing Floyd can do is outsmart him and Cotto is smart on his own..
Floyd will have to be offensive in this fight, that is out of his comfort zone where he can just fall back and be easy, I think there is where Cotto can take advantage, Cotto can fight in ALL ways, backwards, forwards, defensive, offensive, skillfully and any other way you can think of, dude is the complete package, I give it to Cotto because I have seen Cotto come back twice as hard when put into adversity, with Floyd if you apply THE RIGHT AMOUNT of pressure while holding some distance to still wave off his pop shots and counter you'll beat him, you have to be VERY technical in each combination and Cotto can do it but thats just my opinion, dude is relentless and I think it will boil down to Cotto surprisingly to most getting the best of the exchanges, he will land in bunches while Floyd will score combos but for the most part pop shot, every time he does you'll see Cotto land a counter and attack smarter than Hatton and harder than Castillo..
I respect your opinion though bro and I KNOW I am sounding crazy but I truly feel Cotto will win this fight, Peace.Comment

it ain't impossible, Floyd Boxes VERY well but his punches don't really have any umph unless he is stepping in on his shots like in the 8th-10th round of the Hatton fight, if he is on his BOXING **** then he will have a tendency to throw 1 punch at a time wherever he finds an opening, he wont really impose his power he would just land what he can land where he can land it and win on points, Cotto on the other hand always throws HARDER at all times, he throws punches in bunches and each one that lands has high impact, even his jabs make your head crack back, they BOTH throw clean shots but since Cotto will be more stationary and planted BUT coming forward patiently you'll see more solid shots, shots with more intent to damage more so than just land.. Floyd has a tendency to pop his shots, they look a lot worse than they are because of his motions, Cotto on the other hand lands flush almost everytime and doesn't waste punches, neither does Floyd but it will boil down to who will bring more umph with their punches and me KNOWING how Cotto is with his precise punching and accuracy I can see the cleaner, bolder shots coming from Miguel, the fluid pop shot and block is Floyd's cup of tea but the impact and solid blows will be Cotto mark my words..
this is just my opinion but I'm willing to bet all my points, the fight could go either way and I never once said anyone would get KO'ed I just think Cotto can pull it off, he can neutralize Floyd's speed and he has skills of his own, I just feel like Cotto can do it.. what I meant by cleaner shots is that they will have more impact, more **** on them as opposed to a punch to the gut and move, a punch to the solarplexis and move, a shot to the chin and move, there is no real ****, you can SEE them clearly land but there isn't MORE umph than Cotto's punches.. 100Comment

Talking about the way he fought him. Constant movement, angles, confusion, popping the jab, mixing it up with combinations, etc.
Cotto just plots forward, he isn't blitzing forward like Tyson did and I don't even think he is as good as Torres was with similar style.
If Cotto had such a great D, he wouldnt' get hurt so much.
The last part of you writing is what I am also talking about. Floyd Now, compared to then. Can he still do what he used to do or is one of his problems about weight. Balance can also be effected when you increase weight.
And I wouldn't blame Cotto getting hurt frequently on his "D" as I would his chin, the guy just gets rattled easy. But at 147, he recovers faster, and his gloves remain solid infront of his face. Judah rocked him once and Judah probably has some of the fastest punches in that division if not the sport, and he handled Mosleys power shots with complete control.
Now Mayweather being more fast then powerfull, I think Cotto can handle Mayweather and his speed easily. I mean we've never seen Mayweather be faced with quick hard shots due to the fact, lol he doesn't fight anyone that poses a threat.
Cotto has the attributes to be Floyd's biggest name he's ever gone up against. Granted Cotto isn't on the level of a prime Oscar or a Prime Trinidad, but what does that say if Floyd loses to him? Wich is more then possible...Comment
