How could Roy Jones Junior be the best of this era?

Roy Jones Junior is a special fighter. One of a kind, im trying to say hes unique. But how could he possibly be the best of this era? Please give me your views.

Im not jumping to any conclusion, saying someone is the best of this era. But if you say Roy Jones Junior is. Then your saying that his 3 losses to Tarver twice and Glen Johnson don't matter?

I have not made my mind up about who i think is the best of this era.

But surely if RJJ is. Are we basing it on his best ever performance and comparing it to Floyds and Bernards best ever performance. E.G pound for pound, which states comparing fighters at there peak in the ring.

And so were not taking into account his two losses against Tarver and one against Glen Johnson?

Im not bias. I haven't made my mind up on anything. I just want some RJJ fans to show me there views. I will probably accept them and follow them.

James Toney is the best fighter since Marvin Hagler. In my opinion.

What qualifies him as being the best fighter in his era? I think a lot of factors do but many are subjective but the two which you can compare with evidence is number one, he’s the only fighter who’s come up from Light Heavyweight in the last 100 years to win the heavyweight title and secondly he’s the only fighter is CompuBox history who’s boxed a round and not been hit by a punch. Facts.

On the subjective side he fought a Hall of Famer in Virgil Hill and destroyed him. Was he (Hill) passed his peak – I think so but he still had enough in him to win a title at Cruiserweight. He took on James Tony - one of the fiercest men in the world at the time and out boxed him over twelve rounds. His took on Mike McCallum and floored him – the first person in McCallum’s career to do that.

No, we're taking into account what he did prior to those losses, and as any objective fan would do, we're taking into account the FACT that he was most assuredly past his prime in those fights.

You don't take a loss when someone is past their prime as seriously, otherwise Ray Robinson, Roberto Duran, Muhammad Ali, Ezzard Charles, and almost every other great would have quite a lot of hate on them.

Based on what? You like him the most? Just say your favorite rather than best if that's the case.

Based on the fact he's the most skilled and fought the best opponents.

you think mayweather will be undefeated if he was fighting at 36 years old??? his time will come to get knocked out if he dont retire soon. and going from 160 to heavyweight is more impressive than from 130 to 154. jones had to put on twice the weight that mayweather did to compete with the heavyweights. and jones has a better resume anyway.

The most skilled? Moreso than Ray Leonard, Pernell Whitaker, Floyd Mayweather, etc?

And noone on earth will argue that he fought better opposition than Ray Leonard, nor did he face better opp than Whitaker, and the key thing with Toney is, he didn't beat all the best opp, and lost to a lot of lower level fighters as well, such as losing to Drake Thadzi, Montell Griffin twice, and getting a gift against a schmoe like Dave Tiberi. That doesn't strike me as "most skilled" when you lose to guys like that.
