Hard to believe Hatton made so much, the PPV in the UK was 15£ which is 30 dollars, compared to 55 dollars for the US PPV. Regardless Im glad both guys got paid, it was a great event, and a great fight.

The bottom line is that Hatton made more money by losing than Mayweather made for beatting DLH and Hatton.

Why can't Mayweather fans come to terms with that?

Are you all about Floyd's money just like Floyd is? No wonder you're fans

There's no reason why Floyd can't do the same. Expect him to wait on a Cotto fight. When he said no fights in 2008 and 2009, I took that to mean Oscar had him tied through those years. He won't fight Cotto until he get first promotional rights.

Anyway, this only cuts out the Arums and the Kings, which is what Floyd has said. You can't so easily cut out the casinos and HBO. So how much better could future contracts really be? HBO still call the shots. As much power as Oscar and his team have, they still can only take what HBO can give them.

What if fighters refuse to fight? HBO use "Championship Boxing" to promoted different fighters who later get PPVs. But HBO deserve the money. they were paying Floyd millions to fight on subscription television. They lost then so they could make now. And bet on the guys in the back room there on outsmarting any fighters who mess with them.

But getting rid of King, Arum, etc., who bled fighters for decades and controlled every matchup, is a big step.
good post again, i find this stuff very interesting and its clear you know what you are talking about so thanks.

I don't mean anyone in particularm but I've seen many threads being bade about that same issue..

Did Hatton really make all that $$$ and How much did Mayweather make?

                Who cares???

Do you care what's in his bank account or who he goes to sleep with? I know I don't. All I care about is how they fight in the ring and how well they act outside of the ring.

Fighter's financial and personal lives are just none of my concerns. If DLH was in fact in fishnets with that hot stripper.. hey, whatever floats his boat!

The point is that Hatton's cut from SKY was much higher than Floyd's cut from HBO (of which I've made a very educate estimate in this thread), because of 1. the curreny, 2. the graduated contract, 3. the sales-above-expectation on SKY relative to HBO.

Floyd's problem was that HBO were better able to estimate their sales, based on Floyd already having a ppv this year. If the agency you're dealing with know how much you're going to sell, you can't win on royalty. You're only hope is to have a graduated contract and exceed sales expectation.
The PPV was £15 here which is $30 dollars, and PPV in USA is expected to be above 1.5 million buys to UK's 900,000 Buys.

1.5 million buys from HBO at $54.99
900,000 buys (I dont buy it as the link is the sun, i live in UK and the sun usually has bull**** posted on it to sell their paper) from Sky at $30

with Hatton not recieving any % of the HBO PPV
and Floyd recieving a certain percent from HBO PPV as he is not only the fighter but the co-promoter of the fight (So sky would have paid him regardless and they would have paid Golden boy as they were both the promoters of the fight)
