Nah it's easy enough to believe that the original contract allowed Floyd to negotiate exclusively with HBO, Hatton with SKY. If Floyd got any from the SKY receipts, Hatton would've taken from HBO. The promotional tour had nothing to do with it, as that was also contractual.

No but you have to remember the dollar is low, which is the key to the comparison. HBO did 1.4-5m buys at $55, which means they made between $75m and $80m. Floyd's cut certainly isn't anywehere near half (GBP and HBO have to get rich too). At best he took 20% which would give him $15m or so from the ppv, plus his 11 from the original deal. I'd guess Floyd made about $25m, or only 60-65% of what Hatton made.

The major factor is the currency, as well as the fact that SKY probably underestimated the buy rate. If you know anything about royalty contracts, and I am under such contracts, you know the graduated deals are usually a way to rip you off unless you sell more than expected. I have a book deal that is heavily graduated. sonofisis does not have a book deal and has never read such a contract, so when he reads this he can go **** off.

HBO can either offer Floyd a flat rate (15-20%) or a graduated rate. But HBO certainly expected a million sales, so they wouldn't set the graduation at any less than that. SKY set Hatton's at 350,000, b/c that is very high for a UK ppv. So Flayd can't have made more than about $15m from the ppvs (=$26m total purse), or slightly less than he made aginst De La Hoya.

You have to remember, this was top bill on SKY Sports news every night for two months. That's like opening SportsCenter over here, which it never did b/c HBO and ESPN don't work together.

have you seen the contract floyd co-promoted the fight ricky's checks will have floyd's name on them.

floyd got 70/30 split on all ppv revenue. there goes your moral victory
