I honestly have a hard time ranking anyone above Whitaker p4p.
Well, it's possible he's just not including Whitaker in "this era". And nah, Calzaghe and Mosley surely don't belong above Floyd.

I don't think it's even possible to argue that Calzaghe has a better resume.

Of course Roy was dominate against police officers, honestly hes one of the most physically talented fighters probably ever, but I cant call him the best of our generation, when we still have a five division champion thats undefeated, and a 43 year old man thats dominated the people that knocked him out.
Believe it or not, losing weight in the form of muscle is not an easy task while training for a fight. Why don't you ask Antonio Tarver?

My only thing about his win over Bernard was Hopkins wasn't even close to being the fighter he later became. He was still learning the game (and probably learned a whole lot from his loss to Jones). He didn't dominate Hopkins, he simply was the better fighter at the time and won on points.

The Toney win was impressive, no doubt about it.

But, most of the others were people no one really heard of.

Now, I used to love watching jones. I still do, I have half or more of his career on DVD. He was phenomenal. But, I think a lot of it had to do with the level of competition he faced and to me, his losses later were because he was facing better opponents.

Unfortunately there is really no way to tell. So while I did vote Maywweather, I've had time to read everyones replies and it's tough to say. Jones dominated his opposition, Floyd is a defensive guru. I've yet to see Floyd really in trouble or even really hurt. I've seen jones hurt several times. It's tough to say.

You can call me a Floyd nuthugger or whatever but that simply isn't true. I'm not some kid that has been watching for 6 months, I've been watching since the 80's. I'm a fan of boxing, period.

They were about as well known as Floyd's opponents other than De La Hoya and Hatton.

McCallum, Ruiz, Tarver, Hill, Griffin, Pazienza, Woods, etc are just as good or probably actually even better wins than Judah, Gatti, Mitchell, Castillo, Corrales, Chavez, and Hernandez.

So four fights at that weight and he was still having trouble, i mean he was still losing so is that what youre saying? and now hes saying he can make 168, how does that make any sense? Bernard wouldve schoold Tarver no matter what, of course he relied on the losing weight excuse, but he makes the weight limit as well still, i dont get it. When you cant make weight anymore, or use that as an excuse, you usually dont fight at that weight anymore, but with these guys they still are, and roy is even fighting at a lower weight, which shows its just an excuse.

Before the hatton fight, Mayweather's most impressive win was over Corrales, the only undefeated fighter he ever beat. Dudes like Gatti and Boldomir or w/e, even oscar. Beating someone with 11 losses is'nt very amazing.

Calzaghe has somethin like 5 undefeated fighters on his record, 2 undefeated champions.

And Calzaghe beating Kessler is far more impressive than Floyd beating Ricky Hatton. Sorry lol

No, take Ruiz and Tarver out of there because I'm talking about Jones back in the day, he wasn't the same fighter by the time he fought Ruiz/Tarver.
