How can you say Roy when he got knocked out by two people Bernard dominated? Roy had just won the heavy weight belt so its not like he was shot or out of his prime. And yes Roy had to lose weight but thats only because he didnt want to fight real heavies. Bernard improved very much after that loss, maybe age wise he was at his prime but definately not in his prime as a fighter, and Toney's weight was a major issue in that fight. Floyd is an undefeated champion in 5 weight divisions, he's the best, accomplishments cant be denied. No way does Glen Johnson knock out cold the best fighter of a generation, simple as that.
Funny how bring up Toney's weight issue, but Downplay Jone's.Comment

I mean...its apples & oranges between Roy and Floyd...becuz its either god given talent vs. supreme skills/intelligence (who happens to be undefeated still)...
a guy that DOMINATED all mandatories or bums ... or a guy that always competed in an elite level...hmmm, its a tough choice but I'm picking Floyd due to Roy's back to back KOs he's suffered...and plus Floyd knows how to use and adapt to any style in the boxing book, while Roy used his god-like reflexes and hand speed to his advantage which down the road deteriorates...Floyd can fall back on his knowledge in the ring to win every fight...Last edited by RisAri0; 12-13-2007, 06:42 PM.Comment

It's hard to match Jones's offense against Mayweather's defense, just like it is hard to match Mayweather's offense against Jones's defense...
I don't like thinking about fights like this, because they are not even relatively close in weight, and they have never fought anyone even in the same galaxy as the other.Comment

He collected every belt so there were no more alphabet soup champions with the exception of Michalzewski who saw what was going on and avoided Roy like the plague.
They were putting together Roy Jones tournaments. They actually got the best fighters willing to fight Roy, made them all fight each other, and Roy would fight the winner.
He ended up fighting Eric Harding because Eric Harding beat Antonio Tarver in the tournament.
Needless to say Harding was soundly beaten.
You also sound like you are blaming Roy for getting old. It happens to everyone, get use to it. It will happen to Floyd some day too.Comment

Who has bernard beat in his career that Roy wouldn't have in his prime. And please don't make the argument that Roy was close his prime when he got KOd. If you think Glen Johnson would have KOd Roy in his prime, you really don't know about Jones. All of a sudden Floyd has become god for beating a guy who almost got KOd by Collazo, who got easily dominated by past his prime Shane. Floyd is a great fighter, ONE OF the best of this era, but Jones was more dominant and more invincible in his prime. Had Jones retired after Ruiz, there wouldn't even be a comparison.

I dont think Whitaker qualifies as this era. He was basically done as a fighter in 1997.Comment
