Wow that many people voted for Floyd. Pretty shocking because I voted for Jones.

Bernard improved very much after that loss, maybe age wise he was at his prime but definately not in his prime as a fighter, and Toney's weight was a major issue in that fight. Floyd is an undefeated champion in 5 weight divisions, he's the best, accomplishments cant be denied. No way does Glen Johnson knock out cold the best fighter of a generation, simple as that.
Who has bernard beat in his career that Roy wouldn't have in his prime. And please don't make the argument that Roy was close his prime when he got KOd. If you think Glen Johnson would have KOd Roy in his prime, you really don't know about Jones. All of a sudden Floyd has become god for beating a guy who almost got KOd by Collazo, who got easily dominated by past his prime Shane. Floyd is a great fighter, ONE OF the best of this era, but Jones was more dominant and more invincible in his prime. Had Jones retired after Ruiz, there wouldn't even be a comparison.

Funny how bring up Toney's weight issue, but Downplay Jone's.

I mean...its apples & oranges between Roy and Floyd...becuz its either god given talent vs. supreme skills/intelligence (who happens to be undefeated still)...

a guy that DOMINATED all mandatories or bums ... or a guy that always competed in an elite level...hmmm, its a tough choice but I'm picking Floyd due to Roy's back to back KOs he's suffered...and plus Floyd knows how to use and adapt to any style in the boxing book, while Roy used his god-like reflexes and hand speed to his advantage which down the road deteriorates...Floyd can fall back on his knowledge in the ring to win every fight...

I don't like thinking about fights like this, because they are not even relatively close in weight, and they have never fought anyone even in the same galaxy as the other.
No it is not. We have already seen James Toney's defense against Roy's offense. Roys Offense won, and James Toney had as good, if not better defense then Floyd Mayweather.

I'd put Whitaker, Calzaghe, Jones, Mosley and Lewis before Mayweather.

As far as the natural skill and ability go, I think it's close between RJJ and Whitaker.

I honestly have a hard time ranking anyone above Whitaker p4p.

You do realize the Roy basically blocked out the sun. He fought everyone that would fight them, took their belt, and kept it. Roy didn't just jump around divisions picking off the weak alphabet soup champions.

He collected every belt so there were no more alphabet soup champions with the exception of Michalzewski who saw what was going on and avoided Roy like the plague.

They were putting together Roy Jones tournaments. They actually got the best fighters willing to fight Roy, made them all fight each other, and Roy would fight the winner.

He ended up fighting Eric Harding because Eric Harding beat Antonio Tarver in the tournament.

Needless to say Harding was soundly beaten.

You also sound like you are blaming Roy for getting old. It happens to everyone, get use to it. It will happen to Floyd some day too.

Um lets see, Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson. How did Roy fall out of his prime from Ruiz to Tarver? I downplay Roy's weight issue because he was never a big guy and is now going to make 170, so I dont see how 175 was so big of a problem but years after he can still make 170 and says he can make 168. Of course Roy was dominate against police officers, honestly hes one of the most physically talented fighters probably ever, but I cant call him the best of our generation, when we still have a five division champion thats undefeated, and a 43 year old man thats dominated the people that knocked him out.

I dont think Whitaker qualifies as this era. He was basically done as a fighter in 1997.
