Duk Koo Kim, no need to say more about him.
Kid Akeem vs Quiroga is one of the greatest fights I have ever seen and such a tragedy. I still have the fight on video. I'll never forget the end of the fight when the two fighters are standing there waiting for the decision to be announced. When they give it to the defending champion Quiroga, Kid Akeem vomits on the floor then collapses. I knew he died but didn't think it was down to the injuries he suffered although he was never able to fight again. I thought he got into drugs and died from them or being shot due to a drug war or something like that, but I might be wrong. I think that Robert Quiroga has also died but not sure how. I'll have to look it up and see what I can find.

But thanks that's a great call and one fight that never gets mentioned.

Also the Mancini vs Duk Koo Kim fight was brutal as well. After dying didn't his mum and the referee both comit suicide a few weeks later.

I think Kid Akeem could have really made something of his career and could have been a great. Can't remember what age he was when that fight took place but he was very young and I think Quiroga was only 23 himself and at least a few years older.

          I think he was 22.

I forgot to mention Leavander Johnson earlier. RIP.

            He was refering to Ali.

A good solid pro whose efforts to win a world title eventually paid off.

Sorry I thought he meant Foreman. But still while tragic the condition Ali has it can't be definately put down to boxing and if it was it wasn't one particular fight it was the culmination of hard fights he had and competing far too long.
So while it is tragic it wasn't the kind of thing that I meant in referring to tragedy and forgotten fighters because Ali will always be remembered but thanks guys anyway for contributing.

                    Meldrick Taylor

Robbed against Chavez and suffered extreme brain damage from the fight. he now has pugilistic dementia and was never even remotely the same afterwards.

(Ps, people on this forum rather talk about how Floyd mayweather is the best ever then actually have a good discussion about boxing, because most don't know much about the sport).
