The Tribute thread - To all those that have suffered damage in the ring

This thread is dedicated to all the fallen heros, so let's pay homage to all those that have died or suffered in the ring in one way or another. I'm gonna make it a sticky thread to keep it going so we can discuss these fighters and post clips or fights, so that they live on. We should remember these fighters not forget them.

    Discuss them.
How good where they or could they have been?
How would they have fared against other fighters from other eras?
What made them special or why you liked them?

These fighters laid it all on the line, and I for one feel they should be remembered and discussed in a sport they loved and gave everything for.

There have been many ridiculous threads lately, including some by me on a windup. So let's get serious my fellow boxing fans and discuss something different some great and not so great fighters who deserve to be remembered by the fans who they gave so much entertainment to.

I'll start off with someone who could have been a legend and suffered a horrible tragedy in a brutal supermiddleweight fight. None of us could imagine the pain this man suffered during his epic battle with Nigel Benn, yet still battled on trying to prevail until he could take no more, almost giving his life.

We all know who I'm talking about Gerald McClellan.

Here is the great man in action.

I always felt sad about what happend to michael watson. i think he was the best of the british middleweights of the 90's and would have gone onto much bigger things.
here he is knocking out Benn.

I was a big Watson fan and was at that fight in Finsbury Park. Great night, what an atmosphere in that Circus Tent that night. Watson was the best of the 3 but sadly never won a world title. I was there the night he got robbed in the first Eubank fight.

Ali knocking foreman the **** out... Must have been a shock aswell as a painful loss for foreman. Ali wasn't known for his power as much as his speed. And ali knocks out one of the most feared men in boxing back then.

A remarkable young man he is. Do you remember the night he got beat in his first world title challenge against Mike McCallum he was totally outclassed that night but came back a better fighter for it.

So much courage and determination, you saw that when he completed the London marathon in the longest time ever.

He still loves his boxing though and is not bitter at all. He'll always be a hero in my eyes.

Sorry no disrespect but Foreman only suffered mentally not physically and lived to fight another day. This thread is for those that could never fight again because of injuries they suffered in the ring or worse still ended up giving their life.

yeah he said he was in great shape for the fight then a sparring partner broke his nose, the fight got delayed for over a year Mike McCallum got a tune up fight but watson didnt and he was rusty and not in as good shape as he was before. I think he learnt a lot from that loss. I also thought the move up to supermiddle weight made him a lot stronger he looked so impresive in the 2nd eubank fight.

                  muhammad ali
He had to leave boxing for a few years and so then had to do ****** things for money like take alot of kicks to his legs by japanse mma fighters lol which hurt ali's footwork dramatically.
He got parkinson disease but its not known if it was because of boxing or not but alot of people feel it was the big shots he use to take.
he would of been stil in his prime if he didnt have to leave for them few years and wudnet of lost his footwork by gettin kicked in the legs.

Fought Robert Quiroga in the 1991 FOTY developed a blood clot in his brain during the fight, died a few years later because of injuries sustained during the fight. I couldn't find a clip but here's the Wikipedia article:

Duk Koo Kim, no need to say more about him.
