Floyd Mayweather Jr. v/s Sugar Ray Leonard at @147

well, he can't answer for my insinuations, which are actually assertions drew from their respective history. Just in their last respective fights, Hatton came in against Castillo (151) weighing more than Floyd did against Oscar (148) and they were two divisions apart. Hatton walks around at 170, Mayweather at 145-150. It's obvious by way of common sense who is slightly larger.
Mayweather doesn't go to 140 to fight because he has no belts there. Very simple.Comment

Tired of this.
Mayweather comes in the ring under 150, and until the Baldomir fight (1 year ago) under 147.
Nowadays Welterweights come in the ring at 160ish. Margarito, Cotto, Williams
Now you can all go around this very simple fact, and I welcome you to do so, on your own, because I dont need to chat with these very simple facts under my eyes.Comment

It doesnt matter who is bigger out of camp or even after the final weigh in. What matters is if they are legit welterweights. By your logic, Hatton is a legit welterweight which is of course preposterous. There is more to legitimacy in a weight division than weight, thats just you get your foot in the door. Height and reach are paramount.well, he can't answer for my insinuations, which are actually assertions drew from their respective history. you know what...i knda feel the same way as you. i really dont see floyd beating hearns. with leonard even though i picked leonard i still think he has a lot of chances, so it would be a close fight, but i think that the one guy that would have been the black beast of floyd would be hearns.Skill-wise,i think Floyd can do what Leonard done, the only thing Leonard did more then Floyd was throw more combos, quick ones, but Floyds the much more accurate puncher and better defensive fighter,im a huge fan of both,it would be close, but if Floyd boxed on the backfoot, didnt get involved in no exchanges, and could adapt to what Leonard does ( We know Floyd could ) He would win,Leonard was great, but the only difference is,he could be defeated easier then Floyd can
I dont think Floyd would have been able to beat Hearns though, lol boxing is weird,it works that way sometimes
well....the votes went the way i kinda think...like 7-3 to leonard.
im gonna remember this thread and make the same one for the future. i really want to know what will people think of this exact question when floyd really retires and is like a couple of years away from the ring. im sure this poll will be much more even =P. a shame we have too many years for that, but i hope this site still exists and i remember xD...

If height and reach were paramount than Paul illiams would be heavy weight champ, but of course you make no sense. As stated before, there is no such thing as a "true Welter weight" given your criteria. If Vernon Forest genuinely felt like squeezing his large frame again into a 147 pound body, then he could do it. If he was talented enough and decided to go to Middle weight, he can do it. He could easily, under this criteria be whatever he wants. We know from common sense that if someone has to lose weight and work harder than you to get down to your size, then obviously they are bigger men. I don't care what division they drain themselves to fight in, they are bigger. It doesnt matter who is bigger out of camp or even after the final weigh in. What matters is if they are legit welterweights. By your logic, Hatton is a legit welterweight which is of course preposterous. Is Hatton a Welter weight? As long as he fights there, officially he is a welter weight. Is Floyd? He's the champ there, so yes.
When Floyd fought Oscar was he a Jr. Middle weight? Yes!
When Hatton fought Castillo was he a jr. Welter weight? Yes!
Is Hatton a naturally bigger man than Floyd, seeing as how he fights heavier as well as walks around heavier than Floyd? Yes! Yes! Yes! I am not falling for your weight division ruse. Floyd is a p4p fighter who goes where ever the money is. He isn't a WW, a JMW, a JLW, but a 150 pound man who fights where he pleases.Comment

SRL by an incredibly close SD or MD. So much speed, quickness, and ring intelligence between these two fighters.Comment

I cant answer all of these lengthy posts, but I think I picked out the most relevant part:

Yes, Hatton weighs more naturally. No, Hatton is not a naturally competitive at welterweight because he is too short + his reach is too limited.
Weight division "ruse" LOL in other words the topic of our discussion?
The part in bold I agree 100% with, and I add on top of that that he is a legit welterweight if he wants to be size-wise.Comment

There is more to a weight division than weight?????????? And you expect to be taken seriously with comments like that?It doesnt matter who is bigger out of camp or even after the final weigh in. What matters is if they are legit welterweights. By your logic, Hatton is a legit welterweight which is of course preposterous.
