I'm just throwing it out there.. If Cotto should ever fight Mayweather and beat him, his new nickname should be the Black Assassin!

I used to take the long way home walking from school while that movie was being filmed, just to get glimpses of the crew and the actors. Hell, everybody who lived in my neighborhood did practically.

Being a huge Hopkins fan, I believe what he said probably wasn't the best thing because it sparked all this race talk, but that's probably what he wanted. I just watched his "Beyond The Glory" and he talked about why he threw the Puerto Rican flag to the ground: He wanted Tito to be pissed off, he wanted him to come straight at him, no movement, no boxing, he wanted to hurt Bernard.

Bernard is the MASTER of mind games, hell that's like half of his strategy, if he gets Calzaghe mad enough, he might just be able to show him up.

That's just plain ******. 1. Joe's not going to get mad 2. Boxers don't win fights at press conferences 3. Even if they did it wouldn't justify inflammatory remarks.

People forget that throughout his career Hopkins has been a master promoter of his fights. The fight with Trinidad, the fight with Oscar, the fight with Winky (who thought it would do that well? I think Hopkins' shoving of wright had something to do with that).

It's why he's going to make a great promoter with Golden Boy, the man knows what puts asses in seats. It may not be in the best taste but it certainly wasn't the worst thing a fighter ever said in promotion for a fight.

As I said, Ali called Frazier a "gorilla" and a "tom". Larry Holmes said the same **** about Gerry Cooney that he was nothing more than a "white hope" who didn't belong in the ring with him. Marvin Hagler used to dawn a baseball cap that said "war". Marco Antonio Barrera stated that Erik Morales wasn't a "pure" Mexican.(Although he probably meant that one since they hate each other). Erik Morales called Barrera a "f.aggot". Ricardo Mayorga wanted to trade his title belt for Oscar's wife.

The **** gets people talking and that's what it's all about. As someone said earlier, if Hopkins' had a problem with whites I'm sure he wouldn't let Freddie Roach (a white man) train him.

I would disagree with that. There's a number of fighters who've won their fights before they even began, thanks to press conference tactics.
