If Cotto had just a little charisma it would do a world of difference in a situation like this. Here is where he pays the price for that. Cotto can't impose himself on Mayweather the way Hatton did in the public forum.

Trolls sometimes get banned around here. It's da rules.

He will get his beat too......Lets see him get past margarito and williams before we even think he can handle Money May.
This has got to stop, seriously. This is exactly why people do not like Floyd. He is a materialistic ass. Basically he represents everything gone wrong with American pop culture. And no, I'm not a Brit.

Williams and Cotto are the only welterweights with a good shot of beating Floyd. No one wants to see Cotto fight Cintron before Mayweather. Cotto-Mayweather is a bigger and better fight. And if you think it won't sell, you underestimate two things:

          1) Cotto owns all of Puerto Rico and all the Ricans in the States. They will buy this fight.

          2) People will tune in just to see Mayweather lose.

WOW ellerbe said cotto is'nt a well known fighter? what a dumb****. he's puerto rican, so as that goes he's on star status and is considered to take the reins from tito, that in itself would be millions. throw all that in and when there's a latin fighter around, all the rest of the latin world falls right in behind him. the millions can me made, it's just a matter of getting the two fighters in the ring. but on another note, the promoters should worry about the money part, the fighters should be more worried about their opponent then money. this is a sport not a cash register.

well ellerbe also said that all the uk fans coming to america to watch the fight weren't coming for hatton, sure some of them probably came to see the biggest name in boxing in money may but to say they weren't coming to support their man is riiculous, ellerbe says some ridiculous things.

It's a cash register in Floyds case, that's all he looks at. He'll take on has-beens like DLH or little kids like Hatton as long as he gets $$$$

When there is a real man in front of him who will kick his black ass (Cotto/Paul/Tony) he runs like the ****ed ***** that he is

Regardless of what mayweather's camp says i believe if this fight (Cotto v. Mayweather) takes place somewhere like at New York's Madison Sqaure Garden it sells out.

NY is what appears to be Miguel Cotto's adopted united states home state/city that seems to sell out crowds and fill the arena with cotto supports (think back to Cotto/Judah).

I think if cotto fights 1 more big fight (like an oscar de la hoya or someone in the same general ballpark as his status) that cotto's stock rises even more.

The fight would be great (for the fan ppv buys) if it was done in a similar fashion to cotto/judah (in ny's madision square garden) a day before the puerto rico parade that it would be huge.

he's already faced judah and recently mosley so i believe his stock has grown considerably to where it was this time last year.

                  cotto/mayweather will sell tickets...

mayweather's name alone should sell tickets...

i think they are really just waiting for cotto to eliminate one more good fighter in the hunt to fight mayweather (like williams or cintron, or whoever)

No, Mayweather is waiting till he loses. Cotto's style is perfect to bring a **** like PBF down.

im not sure if a certain style will beat mayweather...

i think the key to beat mayweather is to fight your own style fight but in a certain way.

Cotto's style can beat anyone if done right just as mayweather's style can beat anyone if done right.

given cotto's style my opinion of how to take that, "keep coming forward...fast pace" style of fighting and make it useful against floyd is to:

                      A) use good defense (aka...keep your damn hands up...so many fighters forget to do this...world champions seem to forget to do this)

                      B) time floyd. many people seem to think to beat mayweather you have to be as fast as him or as good of a boxer as him but its not true. timing will break speed anyday...

you have to time floyd and counterpunch...and go to the body as well

those are just a few things you need to do with that kind of style...
