I think the figures highlight the ignorance of American fans as opposed to calzaghe's status.

But that shouldn’t have surprised anyone. The live afternoon telecast of Calzaghe against Peter Manfredo earlier in the year came in at 1.4"

I think Joe & Frank need to have their heads checked if they think they can dictate terms with Bernard, Roy or any other top flight American.
Kiss a big fight good bye Joe..

Proves that Americans don't want any part of anything that doesn't involve themselves. A fight between two elite undefeated champions in Wales, would people rather watch Malignaggi vs N'Dou and fights like that?

Why because the yanks don't watch the fights???

Its called not looking further than your nose i.e. anything outside of the States is not worth watching, give me a ****ing break.

Where are the hoards of American or World superstars lining up to tear the belts from Calzaghe at SMW??? There aren't any? Next fight Light Heavy.

Why!...........what else has Bernard got on the cards, what has he got in front of him now, a re-match against Trinidad or Jones Jnr, couple of fading Dinosaurs! That fight might (although it almost couldn't be possible) turn out to be more boring than the Winky fight!

If Bernard backs off Calzaghe again all he'll be remembered for in England is the guy who ducked Calzaghe twice! What other top flight Americans are you talking about, Taylor? Pavlik? They should appreciate the fact that Calzaghe is even mentioning there name, completely unproven compared to Calzaghe!

As far as Joe fighting guys who deserve respect, he's already proved all he has to with Kessler, as Kessler next to Joe is by far the best fighter in and around super-middleweight division!

This just further proves the argument that Joe is ducking B-hop (or perhaps he is being advised not to fight him). His ratings suck. He should feel lucky that someone has big as Hopkins is willing to fight him. He will make a lot of money off that fight.

Hopefully he figures this out and they make it happen in '08.

How the **** does this prove that?

Because the Americans don't follow him, this means he's ducking Hopkins?

Calzaghe is undefeated, has been the Champion for ten years and has just come off his biggest win. Why would he possibly duck Hopkins???

they are draws over there.... just not america.

Calslappy is still a great fighter... and kessler is one fo the best.

They just aren't marketable in America...

people don't care for them over here.... well people that aren't boxers don't.

now if they fought in wales it'd be a huge draw. just not america. point blank period.

So he is a HUGE draw in the UK. Hopkins though loses to Joe wherever its held. I prefer it be in the states so I can go, but that is my biased opinion. Trully if Kessler was an American, he would be a HUGE draw. Hopkins does better numbers but isn't an overly big draw himself here. And his last outing was a boring affair. Hopkins had a good fight with Tarver, but I fell asleep during the replays of 3 of his last 4 fights. Honestly, I have yet to finish either Hopkins/Taylor fight. I like Bernard, his business savvy is remarkable, true credit to GoldenBoy. But he was never an exciting fighter and never trully a really big draw. He was more or less his generations Pernell Whitaker in that sense.
its foolish to assume that just being american means youre a huge draw by that im talking about kessler being this huge draw. Pavlik is on the same level as kessler, hes a huge draw in his area, but thats about it. America is STACKED..let me say this again, STACKED with outstanding talent in practically every sport. The competition for stardom in this country is big, being good in this country usually isnt enough, you need to have something, weather its an outstanding fight record, or just vicious KO power against good competition, something, you need to be more than just good. Kessler is good, but there is nothing about him that suggests hed be this big draw in america when we have a ****load of good fighters like kessler who arent big draws.
