7-4 for Calderon, there were a lot of close rounds but at best I could see it 6-5 for Calderon, he is ahead in this fight. He needs to win the final round or I have the feeling the judges will rob him, as he is fighting in..........you know where

Ivan Calderon (Champion, 29-0, 6KO, Guaynabo, PR)
vs. Juan Esquer (20-1-1, 15KO, Navajoa, Mexico)

      Round 12:
They meet in the center of the ring. Esquer charges forward, crowd rallying behind him. Calderon warned for holding and hitting. Esquer charges forward, hands down, catches right hand. Esquer on the attack, but Calderon landing. Calderon retreats, Esquer lands right hand that sends Calderon in reverse. Esquer runs forward, misses with right. Left hook partially blocked. Crowd boos as Calderon runs. Right hand for Esquer, Calderon stops and lands right hand in return. Then clinches. Calderon jabs and moves. Esquer throwing and throwing, but mostly air-balls. Right uppercut for Esquer. Calderon flicks jab, Esquer lands right. Calderon catchs Esquer with a right hand coming in. Esquer misses with right, left hand lands. Not sure what happened there... Calderon thought round ended, Esquer goes to attack, ref intervenes. Esquer misses with left, Calderon slips, Esquer and crowd want knockdown, ref says no way Jose (or Juan).

      Esquer 10-9 (Calderon 117-111)

I acknowledged earlier that some of these rounds could go to Esquer. Not all judged pay attention to defense. Esquer was just throwing for the sake of throwing, most of it either missed or was picked off.

Calderon has won it for me, but you have to be Impressed with Juan Esquer, the guy is only 21 years old.
