    On to the main event:

    10 Rounds, Super Welterweight

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (33-0-1, 26KO, Culiacan, Mexico)
vs. Ray Sanchez (20-1, 15KO, Albuquerque, New Mexico)

    Pre fight:
Sanchez getting roundly booed in his hometown crowd. So much for reppin' da 505!

Crowd winds up ready to erupt, the noise already drowning out ring announcer Lupe Contreras' introduction. "Cha-Vez! Cha-Vez!" fills the arena. Chavez finally announced to a chorus of cheers, though with some boos sprinkled in (where were those cats when Ray's name was announced!)

    Round 1:
Sanchez jabs from his southpaw stance. Crowd raining down cheers of "Cha-Vez." Chavez jabs, more of a range finder than anything else. Sanchez jabs, misses with left. Lands a left, offering side to side movement. Chavez lands right hand, crowd roars. Sanchez presses, Chavez moves straight back. Chaves lands right. Sanchez flicks jab. Chavez jab short. Sanche misses with right hook, Chavez hesitant on counter opportunity. Sanchez jabs, jabs jabs, left to body. Jab, jab by Sanchez, who plays to crowd. Chavez lands right hand. Left hand by Sanchez, and another. Body shots by Sanchez, right hand by Chavez. Sanchez lands left uppercut. Right hand gets through for Chavez, Sanchez short to the body. Flurries upstairs. Chavez pauses on right, instead mocks Sanchez.

    Sanchez 10-9

Chavez Jr. looks so comfortable just taking punches that he makes Calderon look tense.
