These are two very smart fighters, and guys that alter their style based on their opponent.

Pavlik has tons of dimensions, i dont understand how he got this rep as one dimensional.

He has a great jab, he is a technically sound boxer, he can obviously slug when he needs to, has competitant defense and even very good defense when hes on the defensive.

And he hits like a truck and has a good chin... thats like every dimension...

Kessler has all that too. It would be an awsome fight. I cant see it going the distance to be honest

i hear u kball i just think Pavlik looks for a fight to much sometimes & i think that is where Kessler would take adavantage ,

Kessler is too big and too powerful, as well as being a much better boxer. Pavlik has a decent jab but Kessler has a better one. Add to that the fact that Kessler has never really been troubled around the whiskers and you have my pick: Mikkel by KO.

Who has Kessler beaten? He won his belts off of Manny Siaca who was 18-4 going in to their bout and the shockingly mediocre Markus Beyer. He's good but he's being severely overrated. Typical European style he has no inside fighting at all that's why when Calzaghe swarmed him and got inside he panicked and didn't know what to do. Everybody he beat I think Taylor and Pavlik could beat. Imagine Pavlik in the ring with Beyer.

the weight difference would probably be pavliks undoing. He really should stay at middleweight unless its to fight Calzaghe or Hopkins in superfights(neither of them power punchers). I dont think pavlik can physically gain the weight needed to keep the competitive edge he has at middleweight at higher weights.

I honestly have no idea. This fight needs to happen though, it would be an awesome fight.

This would be a great fight, but I think I'd give the edge to Kessler with him being the naturally bigger man, he's a strong Super middle, with good speed and a decent chin and Pavlik isn't a super slick boxer.

Plus Kessler will be a better fighter since his loss to JC.

Taylor has a great jab too. Pavliks jab might not look as pretty as Kesslers, but it is an atom bomb. Kessler can punch too, and he is sound technically. Hard fight to pick of the top of my head, Id have to really break down their styles to chose a winner.

Kessler is more skilled than Pavlik and he has better handspeed, but I think Pavlik is definately the harder puncher. Kessler appears to have a good chin, but Pavlik is capable of putting iron chinned fighters to sleep. If Kessler can take right hands from Pavlik for 12 rounds and tighten up his defence than he should win a UD. I still need to see how Pavlik fights at 168 before I give an accurate prediction, but I'm pretty sure Pavlik would be more comfortable at that weight and his power would be even more devastating.
