Longevity? Vargas is still around. But yeah, Winky has been in the top level for a good while now.

Funny you mention Winky was 39-2, he was clearly a VETERON of the ring.

Vargas was 16-0 at the time he face Winky(and with a case against him, at the time of the Wiky fight there was a chance Vargas was going to face jail time)

I would call it a travesty, considering Vargas lost to nearly every single elite fighter he faced, and all the elites that he beat were by a controversial decision, such as Wright, Quartey, etc.

Which fighter hasn't won in a controversial fight? Cotto just did against Mosley, Guman just did against Soto, Taylor did against Spinks, Spinks against Mayorga and the Russian at 154.

LMAO, at you thinking Quartey fight is contraversial.

Wright, on the other hand has only had close losses, never been KO'd, absolutely dominated Trinidad, had 2 wins over Mosley...

So having loses, is better then winning close fights? Man, thats funny.

      Which career is better?
Vargas made a name for himself. Winky made one off another Legend in Trinidad. Which is better?

I think it is a travesty because the judges might have been expecting a dominant showing from Vargas, so they might have been seeing him doing more than he was doing.
It was a close fight and Vargas pushed himself more then Winky did in there fight so of course Vargas won. Not everybody is going to aggree with the judges.

I have seen it before... Harold Lederman gave the first round of Hopkins-Trinidad to Trinidad, when there was no basis for doing so... I think he was expecting Trinidad to do a lot, so he saw it happening more than it really was.

If you think I'm wrong, we could put up a poll, and see how many people agree with me that Winky did more in this fight.
Make a poll, i don't care. I care that the right man won the fight.

It was close but I think Vargas won that fight. Winky COMPLETELY gave away the 12th.

And had Koed all of his opponents to date....Wink took him to school...he just don't have the pop in his punch to win the judges over.

Thats a sad excuse. Whitiker didn't has pop in his punch but he sure found a way to win.

Or what about Wayne McCullough, or Chris Byrd how did they manage to win with out pop in there punch.

Should we say, "he just don't have the pop in his punch to win the judges over." When ever McCullough or Chris Byrd lost?

The good the great fight and win with what they have and not what they don't.

                  Its really wierd this fight.

I remember watching PRE-FIGHT hype for VARGAS-QUARTEY, and a major point for QUARTEY winning was that VARGAS and struggled immessley to beat, and i quote, "The unheralded journeryman, Ronald Winky Wright."

And this was HBO hype. Wright shut them up though, with a Hall of Fame professional Career
