How long have you been a boxing fan?

My case is very similar, except for the fighter who " push me in" was Prince Naseem Hamed. Watching him, i got addicted o the sport!I knew about Boxing pretty much all my life(Not into it, just known. I knew the famous fighters and I sometimes watched old fights with my father). My parents have seen the big fights back in the day, from Sonny Liston to the end of Ali. The Golden era was really great for Boxing, as the whole world including my family watched the likes of Ali, Frazier and Foreman. I always knew Ali, the way you know that MJ is the greatest basketball player, that is how we thought about Ali and he was basicely the first man that introduced me to the sport as he was always interesting. I was never a Boxing FAN in those days(I only knew a handful of Boxers), but I didn't mind watching a good fight. Then one day I saw Tyson in action, and from there on the sport grew on me. I've been a fan for more than a couple of years now.Comment

Growing up in Panama I've been a boxing for over 35 years (yes, I'm probably the elder statesman on the furum). The very first fighter I ever heard of was Joe Louis. As a boy, I used to frequent the pungent gyms of Panama City to watch the workouts.
I loved the sport so much, I used to deliberately get into scraps with my peers after (elementary) school. The very first fight I ever attended was the champioship match between Carlos Ortiz of Puerto Rico (champion) and Ismael Laguna of Panama (challeger) in 1965, which the latter won by UD.
Nuff said.Comment
