Hopkins will beat Calzaghe

And I don't think it's so horrible for a fighter who is well into his 40's to switch his style to that of a more tactical approach and avoiding punishment. Boring to some, smart as hell to others. It all depends on what you prefer in your fighters, and I like variety.Comment

You would be. Yet you support Jones, another fighter very similar to Hopkins not in style but in career record and the way people question what they've accomplished. Nothing Jones or Hopkins could ever do would ever erase any doubt. Jones could move to Heavyweight and KO Klitschko and people would still say he fought mostly bums, same for Hopkins.Last edited by ßringer; 11-07-2007, 03:36 PM.Comment

Probably because he has avoided Calzaghe for along time anyone in boxing knows this.He makes the right noises prior to signing then when it comes down to it hechooses an easier option.Last time he said he wanted to fight Calzaghe, then a couple of weeks later he started saying he wanted to fight for a heavyweight title as this will do more for his career, then he fought Winky Wright.I will be astounded if Hopkins ever steps in the ring with Calzaghe, give it 2 weeks and he will be changing his tune AGAIN and talking bout fighting someone else or retiring.
Good post.Comment

If he moved up and then Taylor came along, or even Oscar or Trinidad decided to move up to Middleweight, he avoided them. If he stayed there to cement his status and legacy as one of the best Middleweights ever, he was afraid of any real challenge.
That's not the point here, the point is Hopkins will bully Calzaghe. And since you're such a big Calzaghe fan, I'll be making a bet with you when the fight is official as well. You and Kayjay are in my sights son, best be looking over your shoulder.
Oh yeah and.......
Roy Jones been eating some of that dogfood that he been feeding his pitbulls down in Pensacola.Comment

I for one would love to see B-Hop try and use dirty tactics against Calzaghe. Calzaghe is a true fighter, he loves it. What you have to remember is that Kessler, one dimensional though he is, was highly touted to KO Joe, yet on numerous occasions Calzaghe stood in front of him smiling with his hands by his waist. Calzaghe loves overly physical confrontations, just watch his fight with Sakio Bika. Bika tryed every trick in the book to gain any sort of advantage and failed, miserably. Calzaghe would play B-Hop at his own game, getting inside and slugging it out with the occasional head flying in. But, whats really the main point, Calzaghe could play him at his own game, but he would do it in such a way as to make B-Hop look like a fool. At light heavy, and if no hand trouble, The Zag by KO.Comment
