Call it $US125-150 weighted average ticket price.
That's gate revenue of $7 million.

Well you heard the pre-fight statements about why Calzaghe should not feel the need to fight in the U.S. He's filling 50,000 seats in England! Evidently they were focused on it pretty hard.Comment

No need to be Smokin' on Zag's bone.
His efforts haven't made him more recognized, wealthy , or regarded. Despite a five year head start. Consider that.Comment

Not really the point. A mention was made that the fight drew a live gate in excess of 50,000 people which is an astonishing live crowd for a fight in this day and age. This was disparaged by "Brandish" (which I suspect is a nom-de-plume) who insinuated that the only reason it attracted so many people was because the tickets were sold at a knockdown price. My motivation for explaining the ticket prices was to blast that notion into pieces. A lot of people paid a reasonably large sum of money to watch the fight, maybe not astronomical sums of money but a reasonable amount on a night out.
I would also like to point out that the fight started after 1am in the UK. And still drew 50,000.
Are you going to demean those live figures by talking about pay-per-views again?Comment
