I don't mean just floyd i mean in general, boxers shouldn't be able to take easy fights ever its bad for the sport the best should be continually be fighting the best, be it floyd, pac, hatton calz et al. I know theres too much money involved for it to ever happen but its what should be happening.
Is a Hatton victory good for boxing?

If the best only fought the best, how do young fighters or prospects get a chance?I don't mean just floyd i mean in general, boxers shouldn't be able to take easy fights ever its bad for the sport the best should be continually be fighting the best, be it floyd, pac, hatton calz et al. What if Oscar never gave Shane, an unproven WW, a chance?Comment

Not hanging my hat on anything. Tszyu's record speaks for itself IMO. Regarding the issue of this thread, he was certainly one of the bright spots for boxing in a generally crappy era for boxing. Thank god for the lower weight classes. Welter is called the heartbeat of boxing and I tend to agree.http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/sh...angel+gonzales
By the way, you are hanging your hat on the fact that 45% of posters said that MAG was "elite".
Again, cong****.
Hopkins and Toney are Hall of Famers, playboy. Toney was p4p #1 when Jones beat him.Comment

Fighters shouldn't be able to take easy fights?
Who the hell is to say what fight is easy? Second of all, unless it's just OVERWHELMINGLY uneven, who's to say an unheralded fighter doesn't deserve a shot? Carlos Baldomir would still be broke, if we went by the logic that someone SEEMS to be an easy fight, so the fight shouldn't be made.
Boxing is the sport of underdogs, fighters with the "ONE LAST SHOT" hope and a prayer, and the guy with the punchers chance. You eliminate a huge elemnt of what makes this sport special, when you take away "easy fights."
By the way, with a big time fighter, every fight is hard. Even if it's just getting up for the fight, it's a big fight. Ask Erik Morales, Zab Judah or Vic Darchinyan. None of the guys they were upset by (Zahir Raheem, Carlos Baldomir and Nonito Donaire) NONE, were assumed to be world beaters. Those were to be "easy fights" for those guys.
Unless a fighter is just COMPLETELY SUPERIOR to a fighter in EVERY CONCIEVABLE way, I see no problem with a fight being made, unless it's in avoidance of another fight happening. Every fighter deserves a chance.Comment
