All this, and Margarito, a champ at ww for 10yrs is the only fighter saying "lets do this" and Floyd still is still searching elsewhere. Anywhere BUT Margarito. I wonder what would've happened if Gatti beat Baldomir..hmmmm. You really think HBO would've pitted Floyd against Gatti again? I dont think so. ****, if Margarito was such a bum as Floyd put it, why not make an easy 8mil, and at the same time silence his critics?
it is very clear that mayweather feared this man. he says margarito is a nobody and then he tries to fight boring ass spinks and the bum baldomir? he is a liar coward and a duck.

Whats funny is, the fans who try to make Baldo out to be this force to be reckoned with, are mostly Floyd fans. They do so to try and make Floyd's win over Baldo look like a noteworthy win. I can guarantee that if Floyd never fought him, the Floydboyz would be dismissing him as a c-level journeyman.

The same thing would need to be done if he had fought Margarito. But what argument would there be? At least you can say that Baldomir beat the champ to become the champ. Margarito fought a bunch of nobodies and still has never won a significant fight to this day. What happens when he beats Golden Johnson? He'll get put in with Cotto and get his ass handed to him, but people will still be bitching about how Floyd ducked him. There is a difference between not fighting someone because you're afraid and not fighting someone because they are of no significance. Margarito is of no significance to any established fighter. Margarito fans love the fact that Floyd, Winky and Mosley turned down fights with him, but fail to recognize that it was because a win over him means absolutely nothing.

And a win over Baldomir meant what? 10-15yrs from now, when the topic comes up, all that people are going to remember was the fact that Floyd opted to take the easy route and fight Baldomir instead of the bigger threat (Margarito) at the time. Me personally, im not even a Margarito fan. But its undeniable that Margo was the bigger threat to Floyd at the time. What good is fighting for the lineal title, if its against a guy like Baldomir??? It was like stealing candy from a baby.

What good was fighting Margarito? Was he a bigger threat because Arum said so? Was he a bigger threat because Mexicans fans said so? What did he do to prove he was a bigger threat? He's lost every significant fight he's had. Baldomir stepped into the spotlight and beat a couple big names. I'll agree that Baldomir isn't the greatest fighter in the world, but why should we believe Margarito is any better when he hasn't shown it?

I think it would be a close fight. Niether is going to KO the other and niether is going to overwhelm the other with their boxing ability. I would probably go with Magarito by a close decision because I think he would get the close rounds.

Now you can go ahead and try to use my answer as a means to twist the situation about how Margarito is great and Baldomir is terrible. The simple fact is that Baldomir was more proven, had more important titles and was worth the same amount of money. If Margarito wants to become more than an undercard fighter (like Baldomir) then he's going to have to win a big fight (like Baldomir). The only reason people are even talking about Margarito is because of Floyd. If fans really cared about the best fighters getting big fights they would be talking about Roman Karmazin, Kassim Ouma, Arthur Abraham and Vivian Harris not getting their shots (against guys that are in their division i.e. Ouma vs Taylor)
