It's about fighting the best! Than you're a legend

Your spot on with this post. They see it as "well he fought for the WW lineal title" What they dont see is the fact that he beat a C-class fighter to do so.

you can think of mayweather as beating a guy who 9 losses, but why dont you think of it as mayweather beating a guy who hadnt lost in 9 years.

Ok, and out of those 9yrs, which noteworthy names did Baldo actually beat? Im not trying to bash the guy, because i actually like him, but the truth of the matter is, he's a journeyman who came at the right time and got lucky.

Who had more momentum at the time? It's obvious Baldomir was the "cinderella man" of boxing and was popular because EVERYONE loves an underdog.

Momentum?? LOL...Now your reaching. Listen, Margo was seen as a bigger threat than Baldo. Floyd opted to fight Baldo for the recognition of the linear title that Baldo had at the moment. Floyd took the easier route for similar money. Thats the bottom line. Its not as if he went up against a top 10 ww champ. He fought Baldomir for christ sakes.

this is a great post and its exactly how i feel. like i said fighting baldomir is the coward way. i dont care how many belts he had or how much money is on the line the man is a flat out bum and i think any top 10 welterweight could beat him and margarito would knock him out.

the world was waiting for mayweather to sign the contract to fight margarito for the biggest payday of his life but he waited and waited ducked and ducked until the baldomir opportunity finally happened after margarito had been chasing him for one year. and to prove margarito is no hypocrit he fought the dangerous paul williams when he could have ducked like mayweather and fought the bigger name in a bigger fight with cotto. margarito should be everyones favorite fighter because he is a true warrior who doesnt care if he wins or losses he just wants to fight the best and give the fans excitement.

And if i remember correctly, everybody was turning Floyd down for his HBO ppv date EXCEPT Margarito. Floyd went looking for a fight with Shane...no luck. He went looking for a fight with Oscar...no luck. He even went as far as to look for a fight (THANK GOD IT DIDNT HAPPEN) with Spinks, and for some reason that didnt materialize. All this, and Margarito, a champ at ww for 10yrs is the only fighter saying "lets do this" and Floyd still is still searching elsewhere. Anywhere BUT Margarito. I wonder what would've happened if Gatti beat Baldomir..hmmmm. You really think HBO would've pitted Floyd against Gatti again? I dont think so. ****, if Margarito was such a bum as Floyd put it, why not make an easy 8mil, and at the same time silence his critics?

his toughest fight before judah was clottey and he lost that fight. baldomir didnt fight nobody while margarito was a long time champion in the welterweight division knocking out top 10 opponents everytime he fights and even knocking out cintron who everyone picked to win. baldomir is such a bum there was no odds on his fight with judah. he just got one lucky night that is all. even if margarito had the linear title i think mayweather still ducks him.

baldomir is less riskier than margarito for a floyd option....so baldomir was an easy way out for the same price
