He was the one who needed to get on that plane and come to America. He never did. Hatton understands this which is why he got rid of greedy ass Frank Warren to persue his career and fight the best.

That's the difference between the undefeated Calzaghe and the undefeated Hatton.

Calzaghe is waiting for the top guys to come over his way while Hatton persued the top guys going after them. That's why it took Calzaghe years to get some recignition because Lacy felt like he could knock Godzilla out at that point and didn't care.

What if Lacy never bothered with Calzaghe in Whales? Joe would still be defending his title fighting unworthy contenders.
The Lacey fight was 2006. Jones was already beaten down and diminished by then. No. You are wrong with your time period. In 2006 Calzaghe was definitely the man, not Jones.

However, stubborness stopped the fight ever getting into serious negociation and that robbed us, the fans, of what could have been a great fight.
Right but you can understand why Jones would never want to go oversees with what happened to him in the Olympics.
It was likely a fight between these two would have gone the distance, but Id predict Jones to win in similar fashion to the way he won the first Hopkins fight.

You're not getting the message from that post.

I am not talking about the current Roy Jones.

I was talking about the Calzaghe/Jones history when Roy Jones was still at the top.

Calzaghe was the one who was supposed to persue Jones not the othe way around. And even tough Calzaghe may have wanted to fight Roy when he was at his prime he didn't do the things necessary to get that fight like Hatton is doing currently.

He is waiting for the top guys to come to him. Like Kessler is doing right now.

No Joe called Roy out and Roy said sure, 60/40 in vegas.
Joe/Frank Warren never responded with an acceptance or an offer or anything.

Stay out of this. You're light years behind on this topic. We're talking Prime Roy Jones before losing to Tarver.

Calzaghe never made any serious moves to get a shot at Jones at that time.
He expected Jones to come to Whales the way Lacy and now Kessler are doing AND Jones was too big at that time and didn't need Joe that bad to fight him in his own backyard.

Calzaghe needed to come to America but never did.

Show us the evidence and not the hearsay. I'd really like to see it.
