The guy that Taylor fought was a shadow of the man that defended his title 20 times. He was 39/40 years of age?

Eubank is one of the greatest Supermiddles ever to live and Lacy was supposed to the man according to many.

He defeated two former and current jr.middleweight champions in Ouma and Spinks.

        That's why.

Calzaghe has been holding on to his WBO title for way too long fighting mandatory's who dont' have a shot. His victory over Jeff Lacy is the only thing of note since he became champion years ago.
Hopkins was 40 years of age for gods sake and he still only managed close wins. Winky was also past his best and he drew. Ouma is a Light Middle, Spinks is a blown up welter.

Taylor is a talented fighter but he obviously isn't that good, be realistic.

Wow, so Hopkins was old, even though he climbed up 2 divisions and won the ring title by beating Antionio Tarver and following that with a tough decision win against Winky Wright; but Eubank, who had recently dropped two decision losses to Steve Collins and was decisioned and stopped by Carl Thompson before retiring is considered a big, important win in Joe's career.

You cannot be serious with that post.

What promoters? It's cable company contracts and they are considered WAY before there are discussions over money. A Jones-Calzaghe fight was worth nothing back then in the US and I'm not so sure that its worth much now. In the UK it would have made an insane amount of money for both of them.

Steve Collins was and still is considered a great super middleweight.

Before that fight, almost the entire US and UK media had Lacy a very heavy favorite.

Charles Brewer, Eubank, Bika, Byron Mitchell, Woodhall and prime Sheika are just as good as Joppy or Eastman.

Yes Lacy has been groomed as something he is not way before he accomplished anything serious but winning a sanctioning body belt.

Byron Mitchell was coming off of a loss when he fought Calzaghe and shouldn't even have gotten a title shot.

Charles Brewer lost to Anwon Echols (you know the guy hopkins has beaten twice) 2 fights ago when he fought Calzaghe.

Sheika??? Didn't he lose to the same bum Tony Booth that posts around here?

Woodhall, he lost to Beyer (a lesser champion then Calzaghe) before fighting Calzaghe.

Those 3 right there are definitely not better then Joppy or eastman at the time Hopkins fought them. Eastman only lost to Joppy when B-hop fought him and Joppy regained another belt before fighting Hopkins again.

Hopkins was a great. The guy who fought Taylor was so far out of his prime it was ridiculous.

Calzaghe has fought and beaten 7 or 8 former World Champions including Lacy and Eubank and still remains undefeated after 20+ defences.

If you feel that Pavlik has done more than Calzaghe with his one win over Taylor that fine your entitled to an opinion.

IMO Kessler has done far more than Pavlik yet he's not even mentioned.
