Swarmers need to be able to punch, but he cant. He reminds me of Joe Frazier a bit with his style, but he cant punch.
yes, but his build up damage through the fight is amazing.
why do you think freitas and julio didnt continue?? it was because he just slowly cracks their opponents. after the freitas fight i was really impressed with juan and today he was just as impressive.
i would love that he now fight the other diaz and win all four belts cos he deserves it.

Maybe you didnt watch the fight just now? Come on. Have you not seen Julio fight before? He can punch, he can get KO's and he did nothing but stay in the trenches with Juan...lost every round.

Great performance by Juan, now lets hope he can unify soon with David Diaz.

Julio was never seriously hurt at all through out the fight and he's not exactly known for having an iron chin. He was taking Juan's shots flush and basically walked right throught them. The fight was basically waved off because Julio's pace was just too overwhelming and so Julio's corner felt he didn't need take any more punches, but in no way shape or form was Julio hurt, just discouraged, just like Freitas was.

A fighter with a good chin and motivation to walk into the fire and fire back with some power (julio didn't have any) will be able to throw Juan off his game. The key to beating Juan is to pack a punch that will be able to disuade him from swarming in and going to work with 5 and 6 punch combinations that he was freely getting away with against Julio Diaz.

Though Juan Diaz isn't losing to anyone at 135 anytime soon, the guys with the best shot to beat him are Pac and Katsidis. Both of these guys harbor the punching power to put some hurting on Juan's hard head. Casamayor's old ass would get swallowed up, David Diaz would get KO'd (he didn't look so good against an old and undersized Morales for heavens sake).

I think Juan will also definitely be up at 140 in a year or two. He's such a thick, squatty looking guy and I can see him tangling with the likes of Paulie Malignaggi at that weight. He'd get school by Paulie though.

As i watched the fight, watching Juan Diaz break down Julio Diaz was amazing. He may not punch hard, but easily weakened his opponent. He'll get that 4th belt if he keeps fighting like that.
As for Julio, it upsets me to see him quit. He wasn't a warrior tonight and quitters are not warriors. =/. Bring on Pacquiao.

I think he would work Paulie. Not work him, but it would be a real ugly fight. Juan would be the eventual winner.

He looked good, but as others say he can't punch.

If he would face Pacquaio I'd give it to Pacquaio because of Pacquiao's power and I think Pacquiao also has faster hands just by a bit. That and Pacquiao's southpaw stance could be a problem too.

Juan is very susceptible to the jab. He basically doesn't have (or maybe just doens't use) his own and a guy like Paulie would pop him with it all night long. Juan's footspeed is also very bad, I don't get why Julio didn't take advantage of that as he was obviously the much better boxer. Anyway, Paulie wouldn't be ****** to stand there and let Juan flurry on him. Paulie would UD him fairly easily.
