The Ugly Truth: Weight Classes Are An ABSOLUTE FARCE.

Just an FYI, 15lb is nearly 2 gallons of water. You would need to consume 2.4 gallons of Gatorade (which is 80% water by volume) to replenish your fluids.
Also, cutting 15lb of water weight at any amateur level would almost guaranty that the doctor would not let you fight. Believe it or not, doctors are pretty smart people, and can tell when a fighter has severely dehydrated themselves, potentially placing their health in jeopardy.
Anyone that says they cut 15lb every week is a flat out liar. Despite what some people might claim, 15lb is a HUGE amount of weight to dehydrate yourself by.
I am all for same day weigh-ins, but people will still try and cut ridiculous amounts of weight, leading to some severely dehydrated fighters entering the ring.
I think they should implement multiple random weighins before a fight, with a certain amount of weight you are allowed to stray between weighins.Comment

I stand by what I said (check page 3 of this thread), weight cutting is an absolutly natural part of this sport. I can see why it seems ****ty to some people, but its going nowhere. Those who do not have experience cutting weight are in NO POSITION to say if its right or wrong, simple fact.
As for the having 2 weigh ins, that is unrealistic.. that would require 2 seperate OFFICIAL weigh-ins and would defeat the entire purpose of having weigh-ins the day before.Comment

I've dropped 5 pounds in one day, just from running like 3 miles.
135-130, and I ate big that day, and drank a lot... my metabolism just lets me do whatever (except gain weight).
I would expect that it is tougher to do, the older you get.Comment
