i only respect fighters who try to give the fans excitement. watching this coward run for 15 rounds or whatever it was back then is not the reason i watch boxing. no one like sthese boring fighters its a fact.

there are many boring fighters today like mayweather spinks dirrell and they get no respect from the true fans. people only like mayweather because some idiots think he is p4p.

You do know and understand that all fans don't like the same things. True fans do respect PBF you may not which you have the right to. So basically you only like one style of fighting which fine but you limiting yourself.

The dude that Pep made miss the entire 3rd round on was in the lower top 10 of the division. Floyd always fights guys in the top 10.

I just think it is odd that everyone feels that Floyd should be held to a higher standard than everyone else in the sport.

pep fought more than 200 times so of course he cant fight the best everytime. mayweather fights maybe 2 times a year and from 2003-2007 he only fought bums. he got so scared he almost lost to castillo that he never risked his record until now that hes fighting hatton. pep fought like a coward in the ring but at least he made fights with the best. mayweather is a coward inside and outside the ring always afraid to fight the best.

Again, if he was scared he wouldn't be 17 pounds north and 3 weight classes higher than where he started, taking everybody's WBC championship belts.. He beat Castillo twice, doubt that he was scared. After he mauled Gatti, everybody was actually scared of him and didn't want to fight, so he moved up to 147 and beat the man who held the legitimate championship and beforehand beat the guy who used to have it. Then he beats a legend in De La Hoya while weighing like 20 pounds less than him. Viva, I honestly think the only coward is you..

it dont matter if he moves up if he dont fight the best. he has not fought any top fighters since castillo 5 years ago but i will give him credit if he beats hatton without running in fear for 12 rounds.

you guys are missing the point. the point I take away from that quote is that willie pep didnt run HALF as bad as floyd does now and STILL he felt somewhat guilty for it.

Willie Pep didn't feel "guilty" about his fight style. He was justifiably proud of his fight style.

However, I did graduate from college some time ago and unlike you am not a guy pushing 40 spending hours on Boxingscene and still attending SUNY college. Good for you that you are still in school; however, the facts remain that most people who have read your posts think you are either an idiot or like me, think that you say things just to create controversy. Willie Pep is probably more defensive then floyd but people generally let fighters from the past slide since they're already retired and have been humbled by defeatet.

In floyd's case, he is still undefeated in his prime and still running his mouth until somebody shuts him up. He will get the same love in a couple of decades as Willie Pep, Pernell and all those other defensive greats.......well maybe....if he stays undefeated.......then people will have a debate on who could have beaten him OR who has beaten him but got robbed.
