Sad thing about Floyd...

I never claimed that, you did. This is indicative of two things..
* You think very highly of me
* You have an inferiority complex, which I pointed out not that long ago based on something else aswellComment

if you devalue your reign, over the long run, you ultimately are devaluing your asking price of those who pay to see you. or more to the point: Those who may very well stay away.
Legacy translates into dollars.
Sugar Ray Leonard was going to make a lot of money without taking on the challenges he did. He made MORE money by taking on those challenges.
Does Mayweather HAVE the opp out there for him that SRL had in the 80's? No. But there are more attractive matchups for him to take that would translate in to more money and as a side affect of that, builds value to his legacy.
I'm not a fan of Oscar De La Hoya, but like SRL, he could make lots of money taking on Pat Chapentier 3 times a year. But if that ALL he ever faced, eventually that cash cow gets milked dry. He knew that he had to start facing the Whitakers and Quartey's and Trinidads and Mosley's to A- make even MORE money. And B- to keep that fan insterest in him as a Championship level fighter who took on the bigger names.
Correct on De La Hoya's behalf, but he fought those big fights (Mosely,Hopkins, Mayweather) towards his current decline, the funk he currently resides in(he still can fight* and sale fights *but not how he use to). Floyd by all means is still in his prime, the De La Hoya fight was a step up in the eyes of many analyst. Hatton on the other hand was a fight 3-4 yrs in the making and is going to be very entertaing. Many of you are still hung up on the phasiable reality that Floyd may retire, something i dont see him doing, but many of you freight because he may actually be what he says he is, and thats great.
To many boxing historians, casual boxing fans and Floyd haters, Floyd is boring he doesnt win in blood and guts fashion he HASNT FOUGHT WHO YOU WANT him to, and may not, he may, but he may not. You never know with Floyd and thats the draw, if you look back on the scouting reports of alot of his fights, take the Baldi fight, many of you thought he would win but get beat up in the process, he didnt though, he boxed circles around Baldi and thats the hit. As good as he says he is he may be, however we want to see him get beat up, and you guys think Cotto, or Mosely can do that.
Alot of you where on the Floyd ducking Tony M. bandwagon but have since bugged down tottally. Why? because the fight didnt happen they went there sepreate ways and Tony M. ended up getting beat. But see thats how it works yo have to root out the bad seeds, so when you do lay down the good ones they are masterful. Mayweather vs Hatton...Mosley vs Cotto, Why should Floyd have to fight all three when he can fight two, its only reasonable, and its probley how it will turn out.
As for what you said about devalueing, who is devalueing Floyd is coming of his biggest payday yet, and is about to make more money in his Hatton fight then Mosley and Cotto put together. The only thing devalueing is the fact he doesnt fight who people want him to and thats in your eyes and others, devaueing something that is already worth a fortune and still going to bring inmore money!Last edited by MoneyINC; 10-06-2007, 12:37 PM.Comment
