And, he looked bad, doing it. He stuggled twice against a 40 year old legend. Barely squeeked away with the title, and barely retained it. He looked decent against Wright, but to a lot of people, Wright looked better. He looked pretty shabby against Kassim Ouma and then almost lost to a former welterweight champion fighting at 160 for the first time in Cory Spinks. I'm not faulting Taylor for giving it his all, he did. But he did something, and looked like ****, overall, doing it. Nothing to really brag about. He won, yes. Looked like a HOFer? Not so much.

Furthermore, when he finally fought a strong, full-sized middleweight (other than Hopkins), he gets (T)KOed in 7. Other than that, he fought limited opposition, and looked good doing it. Did what he had to do, but what he HAD to do, isn't what makes a HOFer.

    ---

As far as Mayweather, he's fought... Gernaro Hernandez, Angel Manfredy, Diego Corrales (gave him his first defeat, badly), Jesus Chavez, Carlos Hernandez, Jose Luis Castillo (one close, one clearly), Phillip N'Dou, Chop Chop Corley, Arturo Gatti, Sharmba Mitchell, Zab Judah, Carlos Baldomir, Oscar De La Hoya. Some were a bit faded, some were a bit overrated. Regardless, one could make an argument that he lost about 20 to 30, ENTIRELY in all these fights. That's pretty damn impressive, and he's still got room to improve this record. He boxes well, and at the right weight, had a deent pop to his punch. He deserves it and Jermaine Taylor, not so much.

The De La Hoya fight is up for debate but he DEFINITELY lost to Castillo. He clearly won the rematch but this is something you'll never heard a Mayweather fan bring up.

Castillo CLEARLY beat Mayweather by several points.

For the record, I think Mayweather should be in the HOF.

From an ATG perspective, he hasnt even come close....yet. Who knows where he could go with that talent of his.
Haha, Corrales win wasn't one of his biggest?

The guy who is ranked the highest in the P4P rankings when he fought him isn't one of his biggest wins? Odd.

Of course Maywetaher is a hall of famer. He has won titles in every division he has been in and is as yet undefeated. He was the linear champ in every division apart from one. He was untouchable at super featherweight and lightweight, extremely good at jr welterweight and always found a way to win at welter.

You'd have to be nuts to even think up and argument as to why Floyd doesn't belong in the HOF.

Yep i can see why Mayweather would get to Tszyu.

History. Tszyu was KNOWN for getting to slick boxers. Mayweather avoided Tszyu like the plague. Just the facts brother!
            IDIOTIC ARGUMENT

Ali lost to Frazier, ud win, tko14
            Foreman blew Frazier out EARLY.
            FOREMAN WILL KILL ALI....RIGHT?

MAYWEATHER AVOIDED TSZYU TO FIGHT A BIGGER, BETTER, YOUNGER FIGHTER. YEAH, RIGHT.

Mayweather's resume is far better than Tszyu's.

Floyd Mayweather beat Gatti in late June, 2005...at 140.

FLOYD DID NOT FIGHT AT 147 UNTIL NOV, 2005.

Howinthe**** could PBF move up to avoid Tszyu when Hatton had the 140 title?

Ricky Hatton was offered a fight with Floyd Mayweather for Ricky's LWW belt, and the Hattons did not even want to negotiate. They said that they wanted more fights before they faced Mayweather. WE HAVE ALL SEEN THAT THE HATTONS ASKED FOR TUNE-UPS BEFORE PBF.

"I can't make these guys fight," said an exasperated Mayweather, who had hoped to face Wright in what would have been one of the year's most intriguing bouts instead of what will turn out to be nothing more than a glorified exhibition.

Former lightweight, welterweight and super welterweight champion Shane Mosley was offered a bout against Mayweather, but declined.

Mosley said he wanted a couple of tuneups, but said he'd fight Mayweather next year.

Kostya Tszyu isn't sure he'll fight again. His conqueror, Ricky Hatton, turned Mayweather down before money was even discussed.

Oscar De La Hoya has mentioned Mayweather, but said he won't consider him until late 2006.

That's around the time when Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said he'd be willing to put young and promising Miguel Cotto in against Mayweather.

Regardless of the accusations of ducking competition floyd will be entered into the hall of fame. Lets be realistic. He won titles in six different divisions and is undefeated right now. Those accomplishments right there are good enough to be in the hall of fame. If you want to grade it according to greatness, no not yet. but if you wanna grade it according to championships and record then yeah he should be.
