They are all contenders.
Much better contenders than Henry Bruseles , Sharmba Mitchell , Arturo Gatti etc....
A champion is supposed to DEFEND against the top contenders.
That is the WHOLE POINT OF BOXING.
You may well be happy with Floyd hanging his gloves up after fighting for a title once but I am not.
Floyd has a lot to prove yet if he wants to be considered one of the best Welters in his lifetime let alone ever.
The trouble is his fans are happy for him to shortchange them by only fighting when it suits his pocket.
He has no real legacy at 140 ,147 or 154.
There are too many unanswered questions.

HE IS THE TRUE WELTERWEIGHT CHAMP, he doesn't have to fight Collazo or Cintron in title eliminators and that's the difference. i agree a champion should defend against top contenders, but they aren't it. You should be mad if he chose to fight those green fighters cause that is what they are. Cotto and Mosley I have no problem with, the others are laughable and the fact that fighting those guys proves something to you is even more laughable

I see the flaws in his resume... but you asked if he had fought anyone good. The answer is yes. And there is clearly a reason he fought each and every one of those fights. Yes, Henry Bruseles sucks, but it was a title eliminator to get him closer to Tszyu or Gatti (I can't remember who had the belt at that point). So whatever.

My problem is that your standards are so high, that you are exclusively critical of fighters. I haven't heard any praise for anyone so far from you (in this thread, I can't remember if I have seen you post elsewhere).

I am just really pumped and happy that Pavlik won and did it in impressive fashion. If Floyd KO/TKO's Hatton I gurantee you we will see the most ridiculous nuthugging hate threads that Boxingscene has ever witnessed. Unlike the Pavlik haters who refuse to give him props on his performance, I will man up and give Floyd mad props if he finishes Hatton because Taylor and Hatton are both Elite Grade A fighters

Personally PBF is my favorite fighter, but flawed in his approach to boxing is my take on him. I have been waiting on him to shut Hatton's mouth for well over a year now, and finally he decided to do it. While I admire his technical precision, I must say watching him fight is frustrating at times. I know for a fact that he doesn't put much mustard on his punches for fear of injuring his hands. Not to mention the fact that he has been weight-hoping for the last 4 years, that alone diminishes his punches effectiveness. He has a great chin, but chooses not to get battered for longevity sake, so he uses foot movement to confound his opposition. Sometime frustrating, but I myself am a defense first type of guy, I want to be able to have a conversation in fluent english when my fight days are done. Beause I understand his flaws, it allows me to apprectiate his positives. Perfect, he ain't, and G.O.A.T he ain't but the very best of the crop of boxers today, yeah I'll give him that nod.

Seriously. One can't argue Mayweather intelligence inside the ring. His style is Flawless when it comes to just getting the "W", But boxers are also preformers. Greatness is defines not only in winning but in HOW YOU WIN.

If Floyd was some brilliant finisher, I could understand setting up and wearing down the opposition in order to KO them later, but Floyd is just as Happy cruising to a dec victory.

To me that is the absolute worst thing to do. After all, whats the point of the fight? Ask yourself this- What if there was no round limit? Would Floyd be what he is without the time limit to save him? How would Floyd have fared in the days of "Fighting till somone couldn't continue.

Floyd is a race horse that out runs and picks his opposition to death. That is not appealing to people who pay money to see a FIGHT. HENCE FLOYD CATCHES WELL DESERVED HELL.

Hatton, comes to brawl. Will he keep his 0 aslong as Floyd? probably not, but how many people would Fly overseas to watch Floyd fight? Fame is earned by those that do what it takes to create it.

Karma is a MOFO, and it is my belief that Floys has alot of negative Karma heading his way come december.
