it goes all ways, not just white people liking white people. liking kelly for being a great fighter is fine, it just seems people want to put WHITE on his resume, like it's a positive or negative. his color has nothing to do with how he fights, but everyone seemed excited about a "white" champion.
um so?! why does that bother you? To be honest, race comes into play whether you like it or not. Rarely has there ever been a dominant white champion, now, people believe it's Pavlik, so they root for him.

race is still an issue because we allow it to be. ****, in the latin/ hispanic culture racism is based upon country of origin. With everyone oppressing each other the man doesnt have to get his hands dirty.
I think you need to grab a dictionary...The definition of racism is prejudice or animosity against people who belong to other races. How is rooting for someone similar to you the same as prejudice and animosity toward other races? Your thread title doesn't make sense at all. If you had said your friends were rooting for Pavlik because Taylor is black, that would have made more sense.

That's remarkably ignorant. You have literally painted the world in black and white.

Too bad 2 billion Chinese might have something to say about that very sheltered world view.

Regarding racism and other bashing going around at this board, nothing beat all the gay bashing at this board (or other others for the matter). If its not: Thats gay, acts gay, looks gay, fights gay, talks gay etc, its something else. Beeing gay and like boxing sure is not easy Dont like how people allways have to write f@g all the time, its degenerating. Dont think black persons like to hear the N word, its for me the same thing. Luckily there are some people around the board thats more mature and, have other things to discuss.

i haven't posted here for long, but this is something i've definately noticed, especailly among the white posters (i assume their white b/c they always seem to favor teh white fighters, and say something biased against the black figthers, i.e. "wlad")

i'd expect that from ordinary, casual fans, b/c they need somebody to identify with. but being on a boxing forum you would think people would look past color

another obvious sign that many (not all, or most) people are racist/have racist tendencies

Very shallow and inaccurate way of viewing the world.. Especially when genetic studies suggest the Europeans are derived from differentiated African and Asiatic populations..

Black is a shade of brown, which is Latino, which is a shade of white

Brethren, country men, etc etc. It's who some fans identify with. And automatically assuming one roots for a certain race because he despises another is just as ****** as anything. I'm sure some do despise certain races, but I don't think it's on a epic scale. Not only that but you can always tell who's a racist and who isn't lol. Rediculous point of views, rediculously biased oppinion's, etc etc

i completely agree with what your saying, but i dont see this as a big of an issue, because im talking about liking or disliking a boxer, and i dont know that there are that many ****sexual boxers out there. if there are, and the kick ass, more power to them. their sexual preference should not play a role in whether or not you like them. i mean look at emile griffith; that was one bad ass gay man.
