When people say race they mean a person's culture and/or heritage.
Here's some questions when the mexican's come out to support barrera are
they being racist? When the fillipinos come out to support pacquiao are
they being racist? Why is it seen as a bad thing to value and apprieciate who you are?

It's absurd to be honest with you. Hey, this fight had a major racial backdrop and yes, many of Pavlik's fans were white (probably has a lot to do with his hometown make-up).

Personally, Kelly's been my favorite fighter since I saw him beat Zertuche, but Cotto and Juan Diaz are my two others. And last time I checked, they weren't white.

Plus, I love Floyd Mayweather. The man's got the best personality in the history of the world.

It's not bad to value who you are. That's not even close to what im saying. what im saying is, supporting a guy simplye because he is white (a lot of people will say "i support him because he has heart and a big right hand, etc., but they only come up with that stuff after they have decided to lend their support to his shade) and the other guy is black is wrong.

national support is a different story, and honestly, not one i am too familiar with because im a pure bred american bastard of 6 different varied backgrounds who is not patriotic at all. that being said, supporting a countrymen is not racism, it's patriotism, but saying "I only support mexicans/ PR's/ white Americans/ black americans/ fillipino's" is racism"

I hope, for his sake, that Floyd is just putting on a show and doesn't believe the **** he spews. If he does believe it, he has a real fragile ego and some major self confidence problems that he is trying to cover up. to be honest, i think a lot of it has to do with sr.'s fathering, or lack there of. PBF is always trying to prove something and is real worried about what people think of him.

i think you kind of got this backwards . you should have worded it differently , because the way you did it sounds dumb .

how is it racist to route for someone because there , lets say mexican , becasuse your mexican ? its like saying when the world cup comes and i cheer for my country im being racist ?

i think what you should have said is rooting AGAINST a fighter because of his heritage / race is racist . then you would have a point .

like say saturdays fight i didnt perticularly care who won but i rooted for or wanted pavlik to win simply because i wanted a black person to lose , now thats kinda racist.

Why is it that race must always be an issue with boxing? Who the **** cares, certain fighters are likeable to some people, some aren't.

I'm white, and I wanted SO BAD for Jermain to pull through. I DETEST Paulie Malinaggi, and the fact that he's from New York and I'm from Boston doesn't help either. I'm also a Pavlik fan, and if he fought Kessler, Calzaghe, Abraham, or anybody I'd probably be rooting for him to win. Sometimes it's just a weird situation: I like Winky Wright, but so many times throughout his career I find myself rooting for his opponent.

Racial issues are ******, if fighters are good and have qualities you like, why not root for them?

What's the value of that difference? I say it's next to nothing. I.e., if racism is wrong so is patriotism.

I'm a Miranda fan because he's Colombian and he's fearless in the ring. Not because he's black.

I was rooting for Pavlik to beat Taylor cause I knew since Pavlik beat Miranda he should definitely beat Taylor.

It's not racist... If you grew up with black kids around you, and you randomly flip on a channel where a white guy vs a black guy.. who do you think your going to be rooting for? I understand what you are saying

race is still an issue because we allow it to be. ****, in the latin/ hispanic culture racism is based upon country of origin. With everyone oppressing each other the man doesnt have to get his hands dirty.

Giiiit the **** outta here, lol there's nothin racist about rooting for a fighter due to skin color. I mean so a certain person identify's with a certain race of a fighter more then a fighter that isnt the same race. So ****in what? It's not like because of that, racial slur's are gonna be tossed around. You just chose to root for that guy, because thats your brethren.
