It was an accumulation... Pavlik hits hard...Several times I saw him get JT into clinch mode...JT got hurt several times and played it of well...Look at JT's face after the fight... Pavlik has a good chin, power, heart, and good skills...

Was it an accumulation of pucnhes or the one shot that put Jermaine away?

Do you think it was from a long fight of taking shots. Or was it that one shot that put Jermaine away?
Lastly, he failed to keep his right hand up to block that Pavlik jab and slowed down just enough, so that Pavlik can time him with his jabs. This is what set up the big right hands that had eventually caught and stopped him.

i'm thinking its the shock effect that finally did JT in. The accumulation of punches hurt him, but the single and 1-2 shots in round 7 finally got through to JT. It's the same way when you've gotten cut or broken a finger playing sports, you're so amped up that you don't feel it so much. But given time, the adrenaline wears off and all of a sudden, it hurts alot. And I think that's how JT took those round 7 punches...all of a sudden, they hurt alot more than the earlier rounds, and Kelly just kept dropping bombs on him.
I think the ref did a great job with the stoppage because even if JT managed to beat the count, Kelly would have done alot more unnecessary damage.

I dont think it was one shot that ended it for taylor...although it did hurt him badly...partly to do with the fact he never saw it coming and the punches that hurt the most are the ones you dont see coming...so it definately set the end of the fight up for pavlik...no doubt about it.
it doesnt matter because its a "what if" type scenerio but if taylor would have handled the end of the 7th better by either A) listening to manny and NOT backing up into a corner where kelly eventually pinned him against the ropes and forced the TKO or B) if taylor would have taken a knee to stop the assualt then that fight would have went longer than 7 rounds.
i dont know who would have won at that point (dont know if taylor could comeback or if kelly could finish) but getting you against the ropes (i noticed) is kelly's bread and butter...
look at the end of his like 3 fights...each ending via KO/TKO with the opponent against the ropes...
i was worried about that right before the opening bell (seemed to slip my mind when i was thinking who would use which gameplan) and manny knew it and taylor did a good job of using his jab a lot to get off the ropes when he backed into them...
i think he was stunned by the punch and it didnt give him a chance to remember to get off the ropes (by being dazed) and kelly just kept punching.
i know that its easier to SAY all he had to do was stay off the ropes or take a knee or what have you but its harder to get in such a big fight and be able to remember that when there is a guy who is VERY VERY VERY heavy handed landing clean punches across your face...
however its all what if's...
if taylor would have done what he did to kelly in the 2nd round but had it took place against the ropes then it may have been stopped there...who knows...
i dont think it was JUST the one punch. i think it was that one punch in combination with; being pinned in the ropes and the ensuing 7-8 clean punches that followed...
had it took place in the center of the ring taylor would have went done way before he did at the time the fight was stopped...
probably the 3rd (4th at the most) punch would have knocked him down but at least he wouldnt be knocked out...he'd still have a slight chance...
may have still be beaten but at least had a chance...
kelly won though...and he won fairly...
