          UFC = GAY.
          You're an idiot, get your trolling self out of here.

          BTW, you don't need skills to box either, but it sure helps if you want to be successful at it. The same applies to people fighting in MMA (or to your brain, UFC).

                BTW: Sorry for the schlongs (trying to make a point) and that vase definitely looks like Pavlik laying it on Taylor (ouch!!) :-P

                It's much safer fighting these days.

                Fighting some dudes with stiffers is not such a great idea.

                  I hate the way these two forms of combat are being pinned against eachother. I think a true fan of combat sports can appreciate both. You can't really compare them, they are like apples and oranges, both have their strengths and weaknesses but both are awesome in their own right. I will always favor boxing if I am forced to choose, if for no other reason that the rich history and tradition of the sport. A sad thing is there are not too many young fans of boxing anymore. My little cousin who is like 7 is all into MMA, and he can name most UFC fights, but I bet he couldn't name a single boxer other than maybe Tyson. I hope boxing can reach the public favor like it did during the Tyson years, and it can coexist with the thriving MMA scene.

                    because i like to see people fighting, not wrestling or sending punches or kicks, etc.. while the other guy is on the floor like it was a street fight.

                    also i love all the story thats behind boxing. it gives it something special to it, dont know how to describe it but its definitively something unique.

                      Dude, I know how much it takes to box (my gramps and dad were both professional boxers), and I also know how much it takes to even be able to fight at the level of the UFC. Do you think Black belts in BJJ are just given away? Do you think you can become a D-1 freestyle wrestler with little effort? Do you think being one of the top kickboxers' in the world is a walk in the park? Do you believe placing in the Olympics in Greco-Roman wrestling is easy? Tank Abbott and all the other street fighters' got eliminated from the UFC a long while ago. To survive in the UFC, you actually have to be very gifted in at least one core martial art.

                      I think you misread my last comment in regards to boxing, I'll make it explicitly clear what I meant. Boxing takes a tremendous amount of skill to succeed in it, in fact it takes a lot of skill to do half-way decent. However, having been with my dad through his career and seeing a lot other peoples' fights first hand, I can tell you there are boxers' who have no talent and no skill that are considered boxers (or at least, they technically are). Technically, you don't need skill to box at the amateur level, and some have even got away with becoming pro with no skill; but to become remotely successful you have to have skills in boxing. The same can and is true with fighting in the UFC. Period.
