What's there to say that hasn't been said a ZILLION times about Roy Jones Jr? A supremely talented guy who fell from grace in an abrupt way and now people tend to view the latter part of his career as a perspective on him as a fighter. But I disagree, you have to look at his entire career, not just the last leg of it and if you do, there is no doubt that Roy is one of the best ever.
The same version of James Toney who went on to lose twice to Montell Griffin and sort of faded into obscuririty until resurficing at cruiserweight.

mckay dont u realise how good james toney is? hes got like the slickest defense to date since he stil has those skills its helped him his entire carrer and james toney been knocked down only twice in his whole career first time in his prime by james second by peter when he was out his prime at heavy wieght.
Ricky hatton only has 2 ok names on his record castilo and some other guy they arent noteable yeh hes fought alot of fights but hasnt fought the best now hes being over hyped to stop mayweather.
RJJ went against his farthers wishes and went up to heavy wieght when he came back down he started losing matches his farther said it was to much mass but in the end it cost him alot of fights 4 to be exact.

**** this contracting myself ****. Barrera is the best featherweight in my memory he is. I'm talking here about all fighters sub 130. Jones never beat any great fighter at 175. He never beat the best in the division at 160 or 168.

Mckay u need to look at his career to determine that he only started losing to crap fighters when he came down from heavy wieght he went against his farthers wishes and it cost him 4 fights.

he wasnt even the best at feather...you can always make an argument for Morales and Marquez

another example of the hypejob that is barrera, HBO said in their transmission of Marquez-Jaca, that when Morales, Barrera and Marquez were at feather, Barrera and Marquez had the same promoter and thats the reason they didnt fight back then and that Morales avoided Marquez, when in fact, Marquez was a Top Rank fighter like Morales, Barrera was not......so much for objectivity, huh?

Barrera beat the **** out of Morales in the first fight. Huge ****ing robbery. He also beat Hamed among others and like a true champion always fought the best lost some but came back and won others.

Anybody can pick out a couple of losses from any great fighter's resume and immediately come to the conclusion that they weren't ever any good. You have to be objective and look at the fighter's entire career from start to finish and James Toney had a solid first ballot HOF career as any without a doubt.

And that was the dark age of his career. He did lose to Jones, Montell Griffin x2 some others as welll. He did fade into relative obscurity fighting on Fox Sports cards until re-emergin really in the Jirov fight gaining the cruiserweight title from an undefeated champion in a war.

yeah right if it hadnt been for the bull**** knockdown, it wouldnt be such a controversial decision, not to mention morales outworked and outlanded barrera.... barrera lost to 2 guys morales beat, lost to marquez, and the 2nd fight vs morales was a gift...there shouldnt even have been a trilogy, but whatever...do you remember jim lampley cheering for barrera in the 3rd morales fight just because morales said barrera was hbo's hype....even though barrera said the same **** when erik beat him.....

                      yeah..

And Taylor Wright was 8-3-1 for Wright. Come back and post in this thread when you've gained the capacity of no less than a chimpanzee ability to score a fight.
