casamayor? Please! He lost to popo, castillo, and corrales. Im not saying it would be totally one sided but hatton would eventually walk through him and stop him mid-late rounds most likely to the body. When hatton did beat him u would say its cos he was over the hill and washed up cos he's 36.

But i would also say is that a good thing for mayweather, i feel that the floyd that fought gatti wouldve given hatton more problems cos i think he was noticably faster, i think the extra bulk has made him a bit slower. I also read that article of oscar slating floyd's power, he said that hatton didnt have to respect his power too much and that might give hatton an edge.
To say hatton couldnt beat casamayor is laughable! He fought and beat a better, and bigger southpaw in collazo with poor preparation. Casamayor would never have the power to keep ricky honest.

But trust, there is NO WAY that prime El Cepillo allows himself to be fouled all over the ropes like Zoo.
Ricky would get butted, elbowed and low-blowed for his trouble.

collazo is far from feather fisted, if you watch his fights he's just not a good finisher. Shane mosley said he hit harder than he expected in the press conf. after that fight but collazo broke his thumb on left hand in the 2nd or 3rd round and still went 12 with mosley. i would say casamayor is arguably a better fighter at his weight, which is lightweight (natural super feather), but as for being a challenge for hatton no way!

That being said, if hatton fought flloyd two years ago, he would have faced a smaller and less strong version of floyd. Do I have any "proof" that floyd is stronger today? No. Just like you don't have any "proof" that hatton is stronger than Floyd.
But I think as boxing fans, it is reasonable to assume that since Floyd has put on about seven pounds of lean muscle, and since he has spent the past two years working out and fighting and sparring with very big men, Floyd would have gotten stronger than he was at 135/140.
And if you say that you don't remember Floyd mixing it up at 140/147, it is because you missed this run:
Sharmba - dropped a couple of times & stopped in six rounds
Corley - punished and KD'd three times
Gatti - stopped in six rounds. Vicious beating.
Bruseles - stopped on a vicious bodyshot. While PBF handicapped the SuperBowl with Lampley.
That is the amalgam of PBF's work at 140. i'm confused as to how you can attribute that to "not mixing it up".
Can you please link me to that Oscar quote?
Those fights you have mentioned are not what I would call 'mixing it up'. Against most of these fighters and Gatti in particular he fought from the outside and simply used his speed, reach and timing to batter his opponents. He dis not stand and trade, which is what we were attributing 'mixing it up' to be. Back in his 130 and 135lb days he would make a genuine effort to push his opponent back and punish them. Given his size and strength differential at the higher weights this is no longer possible, which isn't a problem, as he has had to adapt to the environment he is in.

im well aware of his history, collazo was golden gloves and a good amateur, ricky hatton was a bronze medalist at the junior world championships and had a brilliant amateur record, what amateur records got to do with it! I would say the castillo fight couldv been scored either way, and all those losses were pretty close but they were all fellow lightweights, not big light welters. I just dont ever see joel beating hatton, competitive yes, but never beating him

I'm glad you made that excellent point about adapting. We have to give a guy credit for just becoming a SMARTER fighter over time. If a guy's style doesn't evolve over time, that should be a cause for concern, not celebration.
...after 25-30 fights, and with better competition, PBF is realizing that he can take a step back , give himself that extra split-second to see the incoming stuff, and still punish guys? That is smart work.
Diego Corrales is a guy who I loved, But you knew exactly what he was coming to do. He never evolved. Chico tried to "stalk" Clottey the way he stalked Popo. Kinda sad. Trinidad never evolved.
Sadly, Shane didn't change the way he fought. He just tried to do MORE of what made him WW champ.
Vargas DEvolved. He went from a smart boxer-puncher to a guy so caught up in machismo that he always wanted to brawl. And he didn't have the chin for it.
