I wouldn't say that; most of the people in his weight range (Shane, Oscar, Floyd) have connections to GBP, and if it turns out Williams earns a fight (he's a few fights away), he'll get one.

You do realize that Ring magazine claimed Vitali was the ring champ at heavyweight after beating Corrie Sanders right? They'd probably do the same for Wlad. The Ring has been a joke for the last 4 years. They'll only be worse now.

The ring magazine is a company that will just extend the GBP brand. Ted Turner to Rupert Murdoch have all sought to diversify there brand and this is a good thing for boxing. Ring Magazine and it's staff will be independent of GBP as the companyy will be held in a trust. I doubt journalistic integrity will go out the window.I can see how how this appears to most people but in all reality it's not that serious. Fox Film arm still pushes ******* and progressive films even though the broadcasting arm is conservative.

This is TERRIBLE for boxing. This is nothing like what Ted Turner or Murdoch do. Golden Boy buying all of the biggest magazines that critique, review and analyze the sport is an massive conflict of interest.

Do you really think a writer who may get a scoop on some scandal involving De La Hoya, the company or a Golden Boy fighter will actually print it and risk his job, not that it matters because it will never make it past the editor?

Do you really think if Golden Boy has a pay-per-view, a Ring writer will do a negative article on the card and telling people to not buy the show, again it will never make print?

Why would Golden Boy buy a magazine that has been losing money for the last few years?

NO matter what the magazine does next, every time a fighter from a rival promoter gets the shaft in any way or a Golden Boy fighter is praised or elevated in any way, there will always be accusations of Golden Boy and De La Hoya pulling the strings behind it.

You realize that when a fighter has The Ring belt it is just like a normal title right? Carlos Baldomir was The Ring champ at 147 because he beat Judah, who held the belt.

Corrie Sanders only had The Ring belt because he beat Wladimir Klitschko.

No. Wlad never had the Ring belt. Lewis vacated. A vacated Ring belt can only be awarded in a #1 vs. #2 or #1 vs. #3 when both are beltholders. For instance, Calzaghe got the Ring only after beating Lacy; before that there never was a Ring champ at 168.

Wlad will rightfully get the Ring if he beats Chagaev, by the Ring's rules that should qualify. Now Wlad is #1 with Chagaev #3
