the point of the matter is guys like marciano louis ali frazier dempsey, no matter how emotional people are about these guys, the fact is they would get the **** beat out of them if they were fighting today! none of these guys brought anything special tot he table. they were all overrated.

if they had a touranment like they do in college basketball,64 fighters, 6 fights to win it all, none of these guys would make it past the 1st or 2nd round, they would get beat by medicore fighters who dont get any respect.

louis marciano liston dempsey frazier CAN NOT beat prime TUA, GOLOTA, KLITCHKO, MASKAEV, IBEUCHI etc
When did Tua become a speedy defensive master, since you are criticizing Liston for being slow and easy to hit? I haven't seen much difference between what you are describing and the way David Tua fights.

I find that a terrible post, have u seen how furious louis marciano liston dempsey & frazier fought? They went 15 rounds without barely tiring,Heavyweights this day find it hard to go 12 rounds, and barely throw any punches, people like Frazier and Marciano used to throw nonstop, they where much better conditioned,i dont think todays Heavyweights could cope

I have to disagree witht the statement above, athletes today are much better conditioned than the ones from back in the day,I guess the resources we possess at this point and time were not available back than but nonetheless they are better conditioned.

Have you seen how slow alot of the heavyweights get in the later rounds? ****,they wouldnt be able to hang with the old schoolers.

I dont think they are, athletes these days get tired before the 12th round, people like SRL Hagler etc could go 15 rounds without feeling the pace, fighters like Robison used to fight every month, fighting every month he must of trained his ass of to go 15 rounds, but to say that we still got very good conditioned fighters, like Floyd,Williams,Juan Diaz etc

it seems like the old school heavyweights have more stamina and probably more power to speed balance but the fighters today hit harder but have ****ty stamina and rarely throw good combos. The heavyweights today are huge though and you can't ignore the fact that bigger guys like lewis and wladimir would give any heavy of the past trouble

Only a fool would take so much stock in those numbers alone. I made a thread identical to this one a while back.

Now having said this, it must be understood, that EVERYONE back in Rocky's day has the exact same kind of records. Nearly all fo the "all time greats" fought nobodies with losing, horrible records while they were at the pinnacle of their careers.

We have to understand that many times these guys were fighting just to eat, and also, probably didn't have much choice over who they fought much of the time.

One person who had a great record against 2 guys in the top 10 (and only has one loss against one of those top 10 guys that he beat) was Gene Tunney. 79-1-1 or something like that. Undefeated against Jack Dempsey. 3-1-1 against Harry Greb. Yet he is ranked 28th all time. What the ****?

I agree, that is pretty ****ed up.

Someone explained to me why he isn't ranked above the best in each category... short runs in the divison, etc. But all time P4P? I just don't know how he is ranked so low.
