I agree that Cotto would be a very tough fight but lets be real here. Cotto has hust by Zab several times early until Cotto got his stride. Everyone knows that Zab was done and hit Mayweather low on purpose, other wise Zab would have been stopped. As for Cotto Vs Mayweather one thing about Mayweather is he's much smarter than Zab. He will find away to stay off the ropes and pick off most off Cottos shots. i could see Floyd getting rattled a few times but Cotto has been hurt in several fights and after the fight with Hatton i think people will realize Floyd would still be the clear favorite.
Floyd: "Cotto, to me ain't nothing but a punching bag."

Cesar Bazan, Demetrio Ceballos, Kelson Pinto, Carlos Maussa, Muhammad Abdullaev, Randal Bailey, ... all were natural 140 pound fighters, two of them beat him before, and they were very hard punchers as well. You've been saying the same **** for years, maybe Cotto will face a MW to prove your point? Quintana walked through Joel Julio's punches and had a good chance to even stopped him, you're doubting he's a true WW? Mosley was champ as Jr MW and is very strong, you wanna bet on the outcome?Thats so untrue. Im telling all of you that you guys overlook the fact of the size and talent of fighters. You guys look too much at what fighters do but you dont look at the reasons why. Please man, Oscar, Clottey, Forrest, and all these other guys are not little guys like Zab, Corley, and Paulie. Its something totally different. Cotto is not going to hurt those bigger guys. Matter of fact, just look at the N'Dou fight. He somewhat struggled in that fight and never hurt him at all. Clottey is like N'Dou times 10. So are the other guys.
I still say to this day that there is one big thing that people overlook and thats the fact that Cotto has been the bigger stronger guy in 99% of his fights and that he still hasnt fought a real WW. He had some tough matchups at 140 against guys like Paulie, Corley, Torres, and others that looked like he only won because he was just so much bigger then them. Then he goes to 147 and fights 2 140 pound guyz in Zab & Urkal. The only real WW he's ever fought is Quinatana and I dont even consider him to be a real one. Im telling you that it will look totally different when Cotto is in the ring with a huge WW. Thats why I wanted to see him fight Margarito but oh wellComment

1. boxing is not a game...FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR -> Main Chat: Let me teach you about the game young man, Mosley and Cotto are good fighters, but what has Cotto done other than beat fighters I already beat? What's impressive about that? And Shane Mosley is a very good fighter, but Shane suddenly wants to fight me but the whole world knows that he had a number of opportunities to fight me. I don't have to discredit nobody my record speaks for itself. I wouldn't be in this position without beating the top guys. Last I looked Mosley had four losses. And all I do is soften them up for Cotto. If Mosley beats Cotto, Cotto fights Hatton next. Just because you get rocked in a fight and get up, all that shows is that you like taking punishment. Cotto, to me ain't nothing but a punching bag. Cotto don't even believe he should fight me himself. He ain't never mentione my name once, that's just his promoter doing all the talking for him.
Let's see what happens if Cotto beats Mosley...
2. mayweather is the p4p champ and cotto has to fight someone right...there is no shame in fighting someone mayweather fought...its not like mayweather knocked all these guys senseless or anything...it would be different if we were talking trying to fight tyson but fighting only guys tyson gave concussions to...then he can say its the easy way out...cotto knocked out zab...mayweather didnt...and thats just one example...
3.his record doesnt speak for itself...he might have big names on his record but how many of them were drained or past their prime when he fought them...a good number of them...
4. getting up from getting knocked down doesnt mean you like punishment...it means you have courage and heart to go on...if mayweather didnt learn this when he fought corrales he's a real idiot.
5. if cotto is going to be mayweather's "punching bag" then why dont he ****ing fight him already instead of jaw *******...
6. cotto rarely mentions names...he said it even after the judah fight that he wants whoever his promoter wants him to fight and im going to quote him on this comment, "im ready for everybody".
everybody includes mayweather.
just because cotto is jaw ******* and calling out names doesnt mean he's afraid of mayweather...
honestly how many people here (if they were a pro boxer) would seriously avoid mayweather because of mayweather's knockout power? i be more worried about him sticking the jab and dancing (or in other cases...running) the whole fight.
mayweather at 147 doesnt have KO power too much...he did much better with KO power at lower weight classes...he's not even a natural welterweight...Comment

Everyone would avoid Mayweather if they were within 20lbs of his weight class. He would friggin Gattify everyone. These are high level boxers were talkin about here that he fights, not people on the internet...
Theres no way Cotto is scared of Floyd though. You can tell hes ready to fight just about anyone.

I don't think either fighter is afraid of the other...
I just think they have other things on their agenda right now. It is true that Cotto hasn't really called Mayweather out, unless he names the entire welterweight division (which is not a legit call out). Mayweather has other things he wants to do with his career at the moment too.
The only people calling out Mayweather are the public, so I'm not sure Floyd is ducking Miguel... for all we know, Miguel doesn't want to fight Floyd (not saying that it's a fact, but it could be).Comment

i understand that completely. i was trying to ask if you were a boxer...a legitamate pro boxer is mayweather someone you'd be afraid of in a sense of possibly getting knocked out?

cotto hasnt called out anyone...
he says he will fight anyone and everyone that he gets offered to fight.
i think thats better than a callout (in my opinion) because to me that says he's openly inviting ANYONE thats wants a fight...
mayweather doesnt want him not because he's scared exactly...its more of a money issue...he thinks cotto cant generate the big money...
however judah and cotto did well in NYC with PPV sales and if mayweather is willing to go to NYC i think they could generate big bucks especially since thats like cotto's home away from home.Comment

I agree that it is better than a callout, but that certainly gets Floyd off the hook for everyone claiming he ducks Cotto.[B]cotto hasnt called out anyone...

And you are 100% right, it is NOTHING but a money issue. That really does seem to be the top priority for Floyd when he is considering signing fights.Comment

oh haha...well in that case, yes, I would still not exactly be looking for a fight with Floyd, because he tends to always win, and often outclasses opponents badly and pot shots them to hell like Baldomir...but if I was fighting at 154 or 147 I wouldnt really be afraid of being brutally knocked out, no.
I like Cottos attitude too. Nothing can be said bad against him.

From what I've seen, he is the most professional athelete in sports today. He has never gotten emotional during a fight. He has never said a bad word about anyone outside of the ring. Even when Oscar rejected a fight with him because his wife said no, Cotto didn't call him a *****-whipped ***** (the temptation would have been far too much for me), he just said he respected that decision 100%, but it's too bad, because that would have been a great fight. Just a total class athlete.Comment

Yo I said this same ****. What makes Cotto so impressive. I gotta tell ya....the guy makes a good point.FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR -> Main Chat: Let me teach you about the game young man, Mosley and Cotto are good fighters, but what has Cotto done other than beat fighters I already beat? Cotto looks like he is about to get knocked out in his last two fights. Floyd is not going to let that opportunity slip away.Comment
