He's an effective power punching brawler, an amazing counterpunching technician, and a slick evasive boxer all rolled into one guy, and at any minute he can adapt a different style. I honestly believe that Barrera wouldn't have agreed to a rematch with Pacquiao after being flattened the first time, if he didn't know something that the rest of us don't.

I think come fight night we're going to see yet another dimension of Barrera's talent. I'm really going to miss this dude when he's gone and I'm thankful as hell that I got to watch him fight all these years. They simply don't make many like Barrera.....

i also think barrera beat JMM in a close fight, if jay nady spotted the knock down, then i think there would be no doubts about barreras victory!!!!! and comparing both barrera and pacmans performace against JMM, i think Barrera put up a better performance against JMM.

i cant wait for October 6th

It was a close fight with the point deduction and the KO not count but Barrera was controlling the fight

Am I watching a different fight than everyone else or what? I'm genuinely confused by this.
All things considered I think Barrera's first fight against Morales was his best for a 12 round bout. And he didn't even get the descision.

It's my favorite bout of his anyway.

Against JMM his jab was on point, but JMM was getting off first almost every time it seemed. MAB just looked a step slower than he usually does. Credit to JMM for adjusting mid fight with the uppercuts and left hooks as well. Either way, he won four to five rounds against a Hall of Fame level boxer. You cant take anything away from that. I had it 116-111 for JMM.

The whole 7th round was just insane. Considering Barrera was almost out before the knockdown, you have to score it 10-9. With Barrera's point deduction (which although I think could have been prevented by Nady if he were in correct position, should have been counted), it's a 9-9 round, and on my card that still makes it 115-112 for JMM.
i agree completely, JMM won at least 8 rounds of that fight, where were this guys suddenly claiming MAB won just after the fight?????if i remember correctly, all polls had JMM winning by like 75%.....

Morlaes won the first fight, Barrera fought like 30 seconds a round that fight, honestly Barrera threw that fight away, i had Morales winning on rounds clearly, but in my heart, i think Barrera deserved a draw because he fought beautifully...he lost the second one 116-112 though....Barrera's grandest fight was Morales 3 in which he totally dominated him for 8 rounds...my favorite fight of his was against Kenneddy McKinney, thats Corrales-Castillo Barrera-Morales type fight...

you can check threads right after the fight, i was sayin barrera won, and so was many other people. if im honest with you, i would have no complaints if people thought marquez won a CLOSE fight, it was a fight that could have went either way, im just mad at how wide the scoring was from the judges, one judge only gave barrera 2 rounds.... 2 ROUNDS!!! WHAT MATCH WAS HE WATCHING!!

i had barrera winning by 1 point, but like i said earlier, i can see how some people scored the fight for JMM, it was that close of a fight and a very competitive fight too.

no way did morales win the first fight, barrera should have got the win, no way was barrera fighting for only 30 seconds a round, Barrera was clealry pressing and pushing the fight to morales, i honestly think morales didnt expect that from barrera that night they fought, if anything barrera was lucky in the 2nd fight with morales as it was a lot closer and morales seemed to have a lead on barrera in the early stages on the fight. there was no contest or disputs in there 3rd fight as barrera clealry won that fight like you mentioned.

i agree with you though about barrera v mckinney, that fight was vicious and a war!!!! this was when barrera was an all out brawler who didnt box, he was a slugger and was just hitting mckinney with hooks and vicious shots to the body, it was like barrera didnt have a jab or any boxing skills then LOL

oh , yeah i did see your posts, but as i said, there were few posters who thought barrera won ... and yeah Barrera definatly won at least 3 rounds, i however have it relatively wide at 8 rounds to 4 but thats because the rounds Barrera lost, he lost them close....i can certainly see someone having Barrera really close or thinking he fought great, however, I thought JMM was just a little to consistent for Barrera in most rounds, just like Morales was in the first fight
(but much more clearly...), Barrera had great moments but then stayed very passive for a while letting the other guy work....

yeah, i can see what your saying, there was times when barrera chose to not fight and was passive or take some time off in the rounds, and these were rounds that he lost, like you rightly pointed out, they were close rounds.... i think more of that is due to the great work marquez done in that fight, like you also rightly pointed out, JMM was consistent in that fight and fought a great fight, the judges just made me mad that night. but it was a great fight to watch between these barrera and jmm
