Where did this myth come from?

When did everyone decide MAB is done and is going to get slaughtered against Pacquiao? I just watched the MAB-JMM fight for the first time, and Barrera looked better than he did agaist Erik Morales in their third fight, which was supposed to be MAB's finest hour. Am I watching a different fight than everyone else or what? I'm genuinely confused by this.

A question! What would have happen if the judges scored correctly and the K.D was counted without the ****** point deduction?? I already feel that MAB won that fight so eh...What you think????

He should have gotten that decision easy... I didn't see a round in the first 6 that should have been scored for JMM, a couple COULD have been even, but I thought it was true that JMM's shots were more glancing, and MAB's were dead on most of the time. That knockdown would have easily sealed it, but idk, this decision is very ****ed up IMO.

Because everybody and their grandmother write Marco Antonio Barrera off everytime he loses a fight. They were wrong after the Junior Jones fights, they were wrong thinking he didn't stand a chance against Hamed and they were wrong after he lost to Morales. People in this sport loving writing Marco off, and with his age and the amount of wars he's been in, it makes it even easier to do so.

Personally I thought that Marco would've beaten Juan Manuel Marquez had the knockdown been scored accurately. People like to forget how close that fight was and how great Barrera's performance was. They also like to forget that he has solid power in both hands and throws punches that will cut you up.

Don't let it bother you, Marco will settle this **** once and for all in the rematch. I just can't wait to see his critics eat crow for the 4th time. It's absurd for any boxing fan or pundit to write off someone with the skill level of Barrera. Even if he's on the decline like most people assume, he's still one of the most dangerous opponets out there because he can switch his style on a dime.

I am actually floored by the performance he put on against JMM. After seeing JMM-Pacquiao, I thought JMM was the best out of the 4 top dogs down there (Pacquiao, Marquez, Barrera, Morales), but now that I have seen this, Barrera gets my vote. I thought that Barrera was nothing more than a very skilled brawler, who would get eaten alive by a defensive fighter (like Morales did against Zahir Raheem), but my god, he has a ton of boxing skill, and to be honest, he is in the top 5 of current fighters in the category of boxing IQ. Hopkins is tops... but Barrera isn't too many spots down from him. Absolutely incredible. I think Barrera has an excellent shot of bringing Manny's superstardom back down to earth a tad bit.

Almost every boxing fan had mab winning that fight, even most unbiased jmm fans had mab winning that fight. The only one who had jmm winning that fight are ****-riders.

Well said! And I agree. MAB gave it his all in that fight and was hurt by that lost. So hurt that he said he doesn't ever plan on fighting JMM...He knows he won that fight. JMM quickly offered MAB a rematch. That kinda of told me something. I feel that JMM knows he didn't deserve that win.

Someone on here posted a youtube video of MAB AND JMM FIGHTING. And in slow replay you can see how mab dodges jmm's punches perfectly and counters ridiculously well.

I agree. I felt sorry for MAB he even talked about quiting boxing. The judges really got to him. When he was asked "Are you gonna continue fighting" He said I don't know! I have to think about it. I don't like the way these judges are judging.

I completely agree. There are few people in the sport today who have the IQ and talent of Marco Antonio Barrera. I thought Marquez was superhuman when I saw him rally back against Pacquiao but I knew he would have difficulty with Barrera. Barrera is just one of those guys who has a style that will trouble anybody because he has multiple styles.

He's an effective power punching brawler, an amazing counterpunching technician, and a slick evasive boxer all rolled into one guy, and at any minute he can adapt a different style. I honestly believe that Barrera wouldn't have agreed to a rematch with Pacquiao after being flattened the first time, if he didn't know something that the rest of us don't.

I think come fight night we're going to see yet another dimension of Barrera's talent. I'm really going to miss this dude when he's gone and I'm thankful as hell that I got to watch him fight all these years. They simply don't make many like Barrera.....
