i think fight night lost all credibility in his 1st post when he actually thought that liddell's ridiculous attempt of a body shot was actually a good one. lol, that punch was exactly how o'neil described it...amateurish, ineffective, and got him dropped. is that something you'd expect out of a "world class striker"? bundy was right when he asked wtf are they paying those guys for.

anyway, who are some of these guys trying to kid? the striking in isn't as "refined" and looks a lot more "sloppy" in mma because that's exactly what it is. the ground game is light years, absolute light years ahead of the standup department in that sport. but instead of straight up admitting it, people like to dodge the facts and claim "oh, it's the nature of the sport, obviously the standup isn't going to look as pretty...um...yea u could box like you would in a boxing match, the stance wouldn't work... blah blah blah". well no ****. it's not like you could wrestle the same way you would wrestle in a wrestling match. does matt hughes come out to his fights with his ass 2 inches off the ground with his hands out by his waist? how you can you say that so and so boxing techniques can't work without just a bit of refinement if no one in mma's talent pool even knows how to properly execute them? you can say that for grapplers since mma at least has close to a world-class selection of competitors who specialize in that area of combat sports; and other than high school, college, and the olympics where the hell else can someone with that kind of background go for professional pay?

Bundy is just having a hard time realizing that the UFC and MMA in general is more organized unlike UFC 1-8. Those NHB fights favored Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. That is why the BJJ guys beat the pro boxers, pro wrestlers, etc because there were no rules.
Ed O’Niell makes some interesting points. I don’t really agree with them but they are interesting none the less.

Basically what it comes down to is that he’s a BJJ guy and has been for years. A lot of his points come across as him not liking the fact that the rule changes have taken things away from what the Gracie challenge used to be.

That’s what the UFC was when it started the Gracie challenge in a cage on PPV. It was interesting but for MMA to become a sport it needed to move away from that.

Comparing boxing and MMA is like comparing apples and oranges.
You can't compare it because these are two different sports.

Would Floyd got his ass whooped at 145 against Faber (mma rules)? Yes, he would.
Would Faber got knocked out against Floyd at 145 lbs (boxing)? Yes, he would.

Ed O'neil made some good points, and made some ****** points.
I don't like standing the guys up, it's ****** rule but crowd doesn't like ground game (doesn't undertands it) and because UFC is gettin money from crowd they will stand the guys up.
Liddell got knocked out by Jackson, yeah well, it happens. Did he threw sluggish punch, yeah he threw it.

He said Liddell has a little bit better stand-up than everyone else, yes he does. Just like Babalu has better BJJ than Liddell. But it depends who can exploit other guys weaknesses and get the fight where he likes.

                Constant switching of champions...
That's maybe because top dogs in UFC are defending titles against actual contenders, and not against the guy that will bring them more money.

That comment about MMA guys having bad boxing is ******. A lot of mma guys is coming from wrestling, grappling etc. and it's ****** to think they will develop same hands as boxers that are only boxing since childhood.

It's like saying that boxers in mma have bad wrestling in comparision to Division I guys.

Ed O'Neill has dedicated a great deal of his personal time and energy to MMA and look what he has to say about it.

The bastardization of MMA reveals itself here through your senseless and emotional ranting. This is the very defintion of weak.

You sound like a ****ing idiot trying to argue with Mr. O'Neill and Bringer.

Objectively speaking; you got blown the **** out.

BTW, this is a Boxing forum. Take this **** downstairs or somewhere else.

You're clearly more concerned with tearing Boxing down and putting MMA on a pedastool.
How was he "owning" me? I don't understand your logic. All he could say was that boxers punch harder.

Please point out where I said Liddell's hook to the body was good. If not then you lose 5 points in this debate for assuming without good faith.

You're generalizing though. Mixed martial artists don't say "I'm an elite boxer..." etc. If they have then please show me. Also, no one is "dodging" anything about the boxing not being perfect. First off, it doesn't have to be. Second off, if you knew anything about MMA you'd know a boxer's stance isn't always the best one.

The reason why guys get stood up is because they aren't doing anything on the ground. If they are laying and praying then they will have to stand up. I admit, sometimes the ref uses bad judgement and stands fighters up(IE, Gonzaga against Cro Cop), but for the most part the refs are accurate. Don't blame the ref for standing guys up, blame yourself for not doing anything.

Oh and I see boxers throwing sloppy punches ALL the time. LOL look at Miranda that trash ****ing jackass. Look at his last fight, throwin the sloppiest punches ever, **** I could throw a straighter uppercut than that ****, and people considered him a contender. HWs have always been sloppy jackasses gaspin for air and throwin sloppy punches. YEAH HATE ON LIDDELL NOW.

I agree one hundred percent with the bold/italics/underline. Too bad some idiots can't understand.

You are right about the constant switching of champions. Champions in MMA face other contenders ALL the time, they are forced to. They don't pick their opponents like in boxing.
