I'm willing to stake 5K on Bautista to win, if I get any takers.
Daniel Ponce De Leon vs. Rey Bautista. Let's hear it.

Look, if Rey can stay composed and use his boxing abilties he has shown, there's no reason why he should lose this. Ponce is so wide and sloppy, it makes you wonder how he's still champ. But the reason is because that's easier said than done. Rey will no doubt trade with Ponce and I think Rey's chin will be the factor in that he'll be on the losing end of the trades. The other thing is the workrate of Ponce is pretty high. Look what he did to Gerry. He was getting outboxed badly but his high workrate won him the fight. This is gonna give Rey plenty of opportunities but he can't get careless. It's a 50/50 to me but if I had to lean towards someone I'd go with Ponce based on experience and desire to win.Comment

Against Gerry, Ponce threw 100 or more punches in every round. Gerry was the smaller man and even though he connected the cleaner shots, it seems it did not even daze PDL. But Boom2x is bigger and have more power in his punch than Gerry. If Boom2x box and land power punches, those punches could hurt or daze PDL. If it does, it might cuz PDL to be more cautious and not throw as much punches as he use too. But in order to do that, like i stated before, Bautista needs to box. If he does, then he can win by decision. If he decided to brawl, then PDL by referre stoppage.Look, if Rey can stay composed and use his boxing abilties he has shown, there's no reason why he should lose this. On the Gerrry vs Jhonny Gonzales fight, everybody is understimating him. Gerry fought the bigger PDL. Even though some boxing media(ex. Ring mag) had Penalosa winning, i had PDL as the victor cuz he was the busier fighter. The judges score though is unfair. PDL landed some punches to Gerry, which Gerry seems to handle pretty well. Against Jhonny, JG is taller and have better boxing skills than PDL. JG also has power in his punches. If Gerry can still have his defense and (from what he said in the interview) throw more punches, then he has a chance of winning by decision. Also, JG has been knockdown before. If Gerry lands clean punches, it might be able to knockdown JG. I belived this fight will be close, a split decision to JG.Last edited by loui_ludwig; 08-10-2007, 08:34 PM.Comment
