But it was not an inaccurate statement. Why would someone take offense with a candid observation?

i've NEVER liked him..... IMO, he's a fanboy more than a broadcast journalist.... he openly nuthugs his favorite fighters, while dissing ones he doesnt like... except for his boxing history knowledge, i dont find him any different than most people on this forum...

Can't believe HBO can't find a better commentator then the rookie Kellerman who
shoots his mouth off without thinking He is extremely hyper and needs a valium
It seems like this guy needs to go back to school and stay off the energy drink
HBO needs to find a classy replacement ASAP this guy sucks

[QUOTE=SquareCircle;2576032]He knows his boxing, not just that, but dates and times...He has a big knowledge of boxing history.QUOTE]

For the record, though, knowing boxing history (dates and times etc) doesnt make u qualified to analyse fights. Not at all. Max doesnt know anything that any one of us couldnt look up on th einternet or read in a book

Kellerman was right and humble. He didn't discredit Gatti, he just said the truth.
ALSO, for the record...saying Gatti didnt have skills is ******....compared to the slicker boxer etc he looked crude..but when he decided to box and use his technique and skill he was sharp...I called the Gatti-Tracy Patterson fight for ESPN Classic and Gatti used VERY GOOD MOVEMENT AND A VERY GOOD JAB in that fight to win the title. Arturo doesn't get the proper credit for possessing the skills he did

The bold is exactly what Jim Lampley and Larry Merchant have done for too many years to count. How can you not like Max Kellerman for it but have love for those two I will never understand. I think Max just needs time to grow as a commentator and then he will be fine.
I have always hated Jim Lampley. For a while now I have not liked Larry Merchant either. As a media person you not supposed to critize a person because they are not fighting the type of fight you want them to fight. You do that type of critizism in articles or your closing the show opinion segment not during the broadcast or when you are interviewing the fighter. Larry Merchant does that **** then looks amazed that the fighter is cussing him and a few seconds from punching him in the face. **** did you think they were going to do Larry?

No one knows boxing more than actual fighers and trainers. So Larry Merchant and Kellerman can both be fried. Bring back George Foreman and RJJ. They need some fighters w/ good speech as well.

                  **** this guy.
                  how did he diss gatti?
and how can you like merchant and dislike kellerman
                  merchant constantly disses legends
max atleast has knowledge of the sport of boxing while merchant has no clue about what he is talking about

Anything can be looked up on the internet, Max has done his homework obviously and has a great deal of knowledge. He does his job, Steward is there to discuss the things a fighter sees, not Max.

As for the thread starter, its more disrespectful to real boxing greats calling Gatti a "legend" and trying to put him in their category, than Max stating what every boxing fan knows.

IMO, max is more blatantly biased than them.... some of his biased comments are so far out there its silly(for example chris byrd was going to KO VK)...
