I am an American. I think Hatton is a good fighter, but "greatness" is yet to be determined. All too easily is the term great applied to boxers. Hatton must take on fighters like Floyd among others and win in order to be great.

That was the knock on Jones Jr. his entire career that he never had top level competition or rivals. Some would argue that he was so far ahead of the pack with speed and ability that everyone just looked that bad against him. Speed does kill, but the fact that Roy didn't press fights because he openly admitted he didn't want to get hurt.

Hatton is a different fighter though. He does press the action more than Jones. I give him credit for that, but Hatton had a lot of trouble with Collazo (his first southpaw opponent) but Floyd has the skill to frustrate any fighter.

I like Hatton, but people are giving him way too much respect at this point. He must win this fight against Floyd to get a feather from this American fight fan.

        Is money the objective?

I would THINK that Hatton, who has already made millions, would want to establish his retutation and acclaim in the world's biggest sports media market.

I take it from your response that you have never played rugby.

Name a French or German pop star..Abit tricky..

I have limited knowledge of things that go on in South America, or Asia.

Hatton has little chance of becoming famous in the US because the US public are not interested....I'm not saying that is wrong.
If a Pop Star like Robbie Williams who signs a $80 million record deal is Unknown , as Posh and Becks barely register on the radar..Hatton has no chance....

But who gives a toss..Hatton will earn enough money to live comfortably..
True, but there have been exceptions.

There was a British interview with the Beatles in January, 1964 just before their first visit to America, and they were asked if they thought it was possible to ever become stars in the US since no British pop stars ever had before...Lennon replied "We don't really know, I just hope we go alright".

Two months later they were the biggest stars in America!

I think a stunning KO of Mayweather would make Hatton a boxing sensation in the US.

Eh? Hatton has fought quite a number of southpaws.

There are obvious comparisons, particularly as American Football is essentially the same as Rugby League only with too many rules and a different dress code.

I dont know about sensation, but a great KO in a great fight would definitly make him a star.

No there are comparisons in the way the two games are played, what I ment was that Football is far better and Rugby, although it is a fun and cool sport, is just not even close to as good as Football.
