Does Ricky Hatton have AMERICAN fans?

No, I loathe Manchester United with a passion that only their less celebrated cross-town rivals can muster. When my child is born I intend to administer electric shocks while wearing a red shirt just to ensure they will never grow to be a United fan. An unfortunate side effect will be that the child will also hate Liverpool (who I quite like) but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
I support Manchester City.
And Rooney was pretty cool in that incident in the world cup. I've seen him much worse than that.Comment

The thing is, folks just go to the beach and play that RECREATIONALLY. That is the depth of the soccer culture in that country. If you can't get enough people up for a beach football game, they just play foot-volley (futevolei).damn that **** is nice, would love to play that with some other decent players.

Are you nervous about their recent signings? A lot of money on players who are largely unproven. Plus, success in the Italian league normally results in failure playing the EPL.No, I loathe Manchester United with a passion that only their less celebrated cross-town rivals can muster. Thats not really the case. Many British musicians, actors etc have made it big in America over the years. It is simply not the same case with Germans and the French to such an extent. The Beckhams have barely registered on the radar? That is utter nonsense. I have seen more news reports on American news sites than about virtually anyone else over the past few weeks. The US public , rightly or wrongly, have limited interest and knowledge of things that don't come from their shores. Other countries have slightly more knowledge of American topics, music, films some sports people, because
the US has more influence in these areas..
Name a French or German pop star..Abit tricky..
I have limited knowledge of things that go on in South America, or Asia.
Hatton has little chance of becoming famous in the US because the US public are not interested....I'm not saying that is wrong.
If a Pop Star like Robbie Williams who signs a $80 million record deal is Unknown , as Posh and Becks barely register on the radar..Hatton has no chance....
You can go even more than that. I and most other people in England and around Europe...and pretty much everywhere else outside of America could barely name 5 basketball players (of all time), 5 baseball players, more than a handful of American tennis players, very very few ice hockey players. The Americans just dont realise how insular they are. They play sports that virtually nobody else in the world plays.
Fabio Capello would disagree with you there. He said that Beckham was Real Madrid's most important player last year. Particularly impressive considering that was coming after he had said that Beckham would never play again for him.
Oh there are plenty. Jonah Lomu is the most famous example. 6ft 5. 262 pounds. Runs 100 meters (that is 110 yards approx) in under 11 seconds. Rugby players just arent as famous outside of their own country as American football players are in their own country.Shawne Merriman. 6'4" 275 pounds. Runs the 40 yard dash in 4.6 seconds. Bench press of almost 400 pounds, squat press of about 600. Give me ONE rugby player with those physical abilities and I'll give you 5 more football players. If you get hit by someone his size, strength and speed without protection, you DIE. Please don't talk about what you don't know.
Poor example to use, but your point is the same. Rugby players have to be built different. They have to be more thick and less cut, they have more technical skills to take into account and have to play a game that requires much more stamina. There are different demands on a rugby player, because you're on the field for sixty minutes non-stop. You get a short break on the half hour mark. Playing rugby league requires endurance for long periods of fast running interspersed by sprints, so while you won't often find a rugby player making sprints quite as fast as Merriman it isn't a requirement in the sport.
This fellow is quite impressive:

5'8", about 178 lbs.
As a nation, we are taught that different skills are more important than flair. We have an attitude that says hard working and being tough are more important that skills and elegance. These are our strengths, but also our weaknesses. We need to overcome these limitations to ever become a truly dominant force on a world stage.I've always meant to ask:
What is it about the UK kids (and germans) that they don't play a "pretty" game?
By do you guys relish the grind-it-out tackling game rather than the elegant and fluid game played by the brazilians, french, spaniard, portuguese and italians?Comment
