In his prime, Pernell Whitaker was unbeatable.

A very close second is Ricky Hatton. He beat Luis Collazo.

Not true, as he was recorded on camera quite frequently back then and even to this day there's still some footage of him that's left over from his welterweight days (there's at least him vs. Angott*, Flores, Fusari*, and Abrams), contrary to what some of you may believe.

          *I've personally seen these two.

Yogi's correct. Footage can be found with a bit of research. Furthermore, given how successful SRR was over such a stretch of time, in multiple divisions, speaks volumes over guys who struggle for even a fraction of the same success in one division (in far less time).

Clay was probably unbeatable by anyone in the division at the time. We will never know, however, and speculation of this sort is generally the kind riddled with hipocrasy.

Roy Jones Jr. is vastly underrated in the p4p speculations, probably for the way his career has been lately, and the fact that he's from a modern era (which seems to automatically rule out greatness in many people's books).

Whitaker, Leonard, Duran, Gans, Armstrong, Hearns, ah... there's too many.

No he was not, he lost it in a BS way IMO, in the rematch he KO'd him in the first round which means Griffin didn't really beat him

There's video footage available for most of Sugar Ray Robinson's big fights in the 40's and 50's, including the earliest part of his career. His fights with LaMotto and the other title fights were recorded in full. Remember, boxing was probably the most popular sport back in those days.

There are fights on film even from back in Jack Johnson's day, around 1910, although the quality was poor until the mid-1930's.
